Meh. Life's stressful right now. It just hit me that this process is ridiculously expensive. And I still have to pay tuition for next year.

I created a new email account that I ONLY gave out to Med. Schools + AMCAS + TMDSAS just for that purpose. I get so much spam (even filtered) on my "normal" accounts that I would've had a heart attack by now because of what you describe.

The minute people first reported getting interview invites, I created a bunch of new filters for my inbox... now any ads that I get regularly go to a different folder so I don't get all excited about them. 🙂

Yep, I auditioned about three days after I got my MCAT score. Need money to fill out secondaries... It was retty easy at my center. i think I'm going to train in August

and woohoo on the receipt of secondaries.

So, I'm kind of anti- starting new threads for specific questions... so I'm gonna post this here and see how far it gets me. Anyone whose file is complete at UVa: When you got the e-mail, was it a year off? As in... "Dear 2006 applicant..." and "If you plan on taking the August 2005 MCAT." The practical, non-pre-med version of myself says that this is a form e-mail that they churn out and they just didn't change it from last year. But the uber-paranoid version of myself is making me post this. I'm such a sucker. Please save my sanity. Thanks.

Thank you. In other news, I am file complete at a couple of schools. The first batch of letters made it a few places, unadulterated. Where? You ask. WELL!

Ohio State University "YOU GO OSU!! WOO!"
Medical College Wisconsin "YEEEEEE HAW!"

I am reminding myself that if my LOR writers get their stuff into Interfolio this week or next, that I could overnight whatever's missing and go complete in early August. Early August is not as "early" as I had wanted but it will have to do I guess. 😎

When are you shooting to be file complete at your schools? It makes me pissed (I am sure I am the FIRST one to feel this way, too!) that you can hustle out an April MCAT, get your LOR's sent, send in secondaries, pay the $$, just to find that a letter is missing. Mother-f! Dude.

I am betting that early August is pretty average, right?

I am trying to remember that the August MCAT group can't be file complete anytime before October!
I am also feeling grateful that I can work on things here in my office, use the copier, the fax, etc...if I didn't have these things this would be harder, or I would have to live at Kinko's...

Hey Jackie-
Early August is still golden, in my opinion.
I'm only "file complete" at VCU and UVa, currently. Hopkins and G-town should be there by the end of this week/early next (I just sent the snail mail pieces today). Then I have this huge gap: Tufts and Duke haven't sent out their secondaries, I haven't heard anything about the screen from EVMS (although that one will be ready to go within a day), Harvard is notoriously late in releasing its secondary, and UNC only sends secondaries to people who get interviews, so that'll probably be later, too. So, in short, I won't be file complete at half of my schools until early August myself, and that's without an LOR snag. So the fact that you're still in that time-frame is pretty good!

WHew. You sure know how to make a girl feel better. LOR snags are the worst, though! Good thing I am anal enough to check my status and call schools early. I sent out my IF requests yesterday (by fax and mail) so the mail version should reach my undergrad school probably by Friday, and if they could fax in that **** on Monday the 24th, I could have that stuff rollin'....I sent an email to the prof I really, really need to do it the most (he is the one holding up TWO right now) and I think I will put in some phone messages on Friday.... what do you think?

And you're right, some places haven't even released secondaries yet, but the ones that have, I want to be complete at.

Yes. Be aggressive. Let your writers know that once they get their stuff into IF, you'll never have to bug them again- that'll get them going. Also, if some of your schools allow electronic deliveries from IF, you can get your missing letters in same-day, which will buy back some time. You'll be fine; I have faith!

I guess I am terrified about submitting late because when I've seen people with okay or good stats that don't get in, it is usually because they didn't submit AMCAS until August and then were probably complete Sept/Oct. You know?

I know I submitted in June, but it doesn't do me any good if I can't get all of my S together in July and pull it off for August! 🙂

1) It takes approximately 4 weeks from my request for my school to write and submit the letter
2) It doesn't cost me anything extra to submit more letters, but I'd feel silly if I asked them to submit a letter to a school if I ended up getting rejected there pre-secondary.

I would for the schools that don't screen. If anything, it'll show keen interest in the school. I wouldn't send them to schools that screen, though, until those schools invite you to apply; they might see it as presumptuous.

SO I just got an email from a prof saying that he faxed in his stuff to interfolio....now I am anxiously awaiting the update from Interfolio where they say they have it.

I am imagining the things that could go wrong, like if he didn't put the barcode page FIRST or whatever. I am sure it is fine but until I see it I will be nervous. I know. I need to calm down. I can't. His letter is the one I need for Pritzker. And I just can't be calm when it comes to Pritzker.
