So I graduated UG a year early and committed myself to doing research full time until early April. Even though I work full time I find myself with free time that I originally told myself I was going to use for "creativity" ie drawing, painting, and writing hypothetical masterpieces.

After April I'm moving back home to babysit my sister's newborn when she goes back to work. I anticipate when I do that I'm going to have a LOT of free time (babies just eat sleep and poop right...?)

So my question is, if you were in my situation what would you do during the free time? I've taken up food blogging but I kind of want to do something more productive. Also, cheap and/or free. I'm going to med school in August and I don't want to just be a bum til then!

I vote for being a bum. Video games, reading, watching sports, cooking, etc. are all things you can do without leaving the baby alone. You'll be sad you didn't screw around while you had the chance once med school gets going.

Maybe get into something more physical? Take up hiking, running, yoga, etc. I've been training for my first marathon. Its kept me busy and I'm in the best shape of my life right now.

Marathon? Good luck! Working out is definitely a good idea. I am trying to get into better shape and my short term goal right now is to be able to do a split lol

There's not really much you can do without going out of the house with the baby. The only thing I will suggest is find some sort of goal to achieve, otherwise it will get boring pretty fast. Also, I second the thought of exercising as you will need want to stay physically active in some way during those long hours of "house arrest."

Yup, I was going to suggest some exercise like yoga so you can stay with the baby. But until April, maybe try outdoorsy things or hobbies that require leaving the house so you don't go crazy, like I would if I had to be inside all the time. You can also teach yourself new things like knitting, tarot card reading (totally random), or the guitar (I want to do this as soon as I get my hands on one).

Nice list of things to do. 👍
