Hey Guys,

I have my CS exam in a few days and I just started studying FA today. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to study before due to a demanding rotation. (btw, I'm a USMG from a good med school).

Now, I know that 97% USMG pass, but do I really want to risk failing this silly exam? I'm not so worried about the patient encounter, but rather the progress note in terms of differentials and workups. I could have it all down in a week's time, but a couple days might be pushing it. How long do a typical USMG study for this exam?

The only thing holding me back from delaying it is the $150 charge.

i studied for 2 days, evenings only, going through the cases at the back of the FA for CS book. it's a breeze, don't push it back, you'll do fine.

I just read the thread about all these good medical student failing on the personal skills criteria based on the actor's evaluation. Many of them state they did everything right.

I'm just worried that if luck works against me and fail because of a silly reason, that this will affect my residency match.

Now I'll really starting to think to put this off until after match day. :scared:

I read through FA on the flight to Atlanta. Passed no problem. You'll be fine. Just go through FA once.

I am a FMG and personally I am not sure those were legit posts. Remember this is the internet, people are often not what they say. I personally suspect it might be a goof. I honestly cannot imagine that many AMG's of top schools failing CS. The cases are textbook and straightforward, you need some basic politeness and consideration (introduce yourself, warm the stethoschope before placing it on the skin, have clean hands, tell the patient what you are doing and why, show both some empathy and some sympathy - you know just the old basic golden rule, treat others as you would like to be treated) and know how to write a chart note. Otherwise I personally think it is a gimme.

Do what is best for you - I don't know how it is really for AMG's so my advice may not be appropriate - but personally I would say don't get too stressed over CS. And don't let some internet posts by people who may potentially be just practical jokers make you think the sky is falling.
