Hi all:

I am thinking about Physicians Assistant and Pharm.D program. I was wondering if someone could give me some advice.

I have a medical degree from Bangladesh. I have already evaluated my transcripts by World Educational Services which certified my degree as an equivalent of M.D degree here.

I have a small family, and I don't want to go through USMLE and medical residency etc. And I am really interested in Pharmacy too.

Basically, I want to minimize the number of pre-req classes I will have to take in order to apply to a Pharm.D program. Seems like, it varies from school to school. I looked at UNC, they require a lot of pre-reqs which will take me 2 yrs fulltime to finish.

If anyone have any suggestion about any particular school, I would appreciate it.

Thanks and have a great day.

hmm.. did you say 2 years for prerequisites..not the pharmd program. geez, wouldn't you qualify to enter pharmd with your md background. did you go to college or jump right into medical school.

btw, if you already have a degree, can't you just take the foreign equivalency exam? not to sure, but i heard this being done. but you might have to do a residency.

Hi Luna,

Most schools have the same core of prerequisites. 8 credit hours of general chemistry, 8 credit hours of organic chemistry, 12+ credit hours of various biology courses (school specific). The liberal arts courses vary.

Since you live in NC, you might want to check out Campbell University. It's about a 45 minute drive from Raleigh in Harnett County. I'm interviewing there on April 4th. It's a small, private university. They have housing for married students, which would really keep the cost down.
