If something like this were on the DAT, that is so not fair. My eyes just bug out when trying to discern the cubes in the tall stack. It's like one of those illusion books.

Yeah, that's awful. There weren't any illusion type stacks when I took the real thing though, so don't worry about it.

I actually would worry about being familiar with these...this is a pretty fair structure and I had 2 illusions on my test last week. Although its not the most likely, you should still understand how to look at structures like these.

That one sucks!! I wish they drew it so that the cubes in back look a tad smaller than the ones in front. That would make too much sense though. I hope I don't get anything like that on the DAT!!

This was from CDP #4. I keep getting worse as the tests go. Ugh. I got an 18 on this one. The angles, hole punches, and cubes were way harder on this one, and it left me with barely any time to do folding, so I got most of them wrong.

I really don't know how I'm supposed to pull all of this together by August 9th...

I actually had 2 or 3 with illusions like that on my DAT, they sucked.

I ran into that one too! I'm so glad the consensus is the real thing is easier and less cubes. PHEW!

Some people say they had illusions. Some people say it was cake. I think the only thing you can do is cross your fingers and hope for the best.

Haha I remember that question for the achiever test right? It's absurd, just like the rest of achiever. Real DAT is easier.

real cube counting on DAT is easy, don't worry.

Nah its on CDP boss, and it's really not that difficult if you look closely for a few seconds. Once you figure out the actual shape its not to bad but even then it messes with your head a little bit when counting.

Don't worry! There's still hope.. I was getting 16-18 up till test 5.. took the time to understand and learn techniques and I finally scored 24-25s on the last 4! Just practice everyday if you can! Good luck ~

I had about 2 illusion type cubecounting graphics on my DAT ....and each had about 3 questions related to them but only 2 out of 6 questions were applicable to where you cannot decide if the cube exist there or it's just illusion...so may be they have added new question pool for DAT (Real one) this year with this kind of graphics...not sure may be more people can confirm.

Can't just one illusion cube throw everything off though? If you can't tell, and count it as two, but it was really three, and then they ask you how many have 2 and how many have 3, you'll get both wrong.

Nope....it depends what type of stack you get....it mostly effect ...if the question is asking 1 or 2 sides painted ...illusion type question are only confusing in a way to count a cube or not? zero, three , four and five painted sides are too visible to get to right answer.

I don't think that's bad at all, there's a much worse one somewhere in CDP. This one I can visualize but there was one where if I took my eyes off the figure once I saw the illusion I would immediately forget what I was looking at.
