Long story, please bear with me. (I learned the other day, that you're supposed to say "Bear" instead of "Bare". If you say "please bare with me", that means to strip naked and stuff. That's your random fact for the day.)
Ok, so I just transfered to a big University in Texas. The school I went to in the fall of 06 didn't get my transcript in early enough so I couldn't register early for classes, mainly because one of my professors failed to report my grades. I didn't think much of it, and signed up for new student orientation that was a couple days ago. So I go to the orientation and do all the "fun" stuff. I met my pre-med advisor, who was cool and very helpful. Then I meet with my Chemistry advisor, who was awesome. He reminds me of a mid-life Einstein, mainly because he looks like him. So at this point, I'm excited. He tells me what courses I should start with and I head over to register for my classes.
This is where it gets bad.
I try to get in my Chem class. All full.
I try to get in my Bio class. All full.
I try to get in my Spanish class. All full.
I try to get in my Pre-Cal class. All full except one that's late at night.
I try to get in a Physics class. All full.
At this point.. I start to panic. I run clear across campus to find my cool advisers, in alligator boots I might ad, up 5 floors of stairs, I beg and plead and cry. Which is unusual for me because I'm a shy person. They said they would see what they can do but it doesn't look good. So I run back, by this time I have a blister the size of Texas on my heel. I feel stupid because I failed to believe them when they said, "Wear comfortable walking shoes".
Even classes that I have somewhat of an interest in taking are full. I can barely find enough classes that I need/want to take to get over 10 hours. I really don't want to pay a couple grand for classes I don't need or won't help me. I get an e-mail saying to try up until the last day of the first week of school to get in the classes and hope people drop from them.
So, I have a some questions. Will this look bad during the admission process? If I am forced to just take boring, non challenging classes, would it look like a slack off semester? My GPA could use a boost, but I would never resort to taking basic and non required classes to raise it. Has anyone had this happen? I am really lost on what to do right now, and hoping for some feedback and advice from some of you. Thanks for reading.
Looks like summer schools gonna be a long one.
