Thoroughly unscientific, opinion based comparison, UMDNJSOM vs. MSUCOM vs. NYCOM

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Well you SOUND like you're leaning heavily toward MSU but trying to convince yourself of UMDNJ. You'll have opportunities at all 3 schools, but if you feel MSU is the best place for you, then go for it!

MSU and UMDNJSOM are #1 and #2 respectively in federal grant money. However, MSU counts its faculty for both the MD and DO school in that number while UMDNJSOM only counts the DO school faculty.

well umdnj ,as you know, has two allopathic schools, and it would be great if we were allowed to do research on any of the campuses and not be limited to stratford in doing research (given it takes three years of your life)...I think I would consider the program much more seriously if I had the opportunity to look at every research oppportunity umdnj has to offer 🙂

umdnj has a do/phd program as well, although I am not sure of the extent of research opportunities

Although UMDNJ-SOM has a DO/PhD program, the students receive very limited funding, and I mean very limited. You pay full tuition the first two years and then receive stipend the last couple of years. Whereas with MSUCOM, you are fully funded all the way through with a stipend, despite having to pay a very much reduced tuition.

I thought you didn't care about $$ 🙂

I feel like I am leaning toward MSU, but it is a very difficulty decision because of all the factors we have to consider. All three schools, as many have mentioned, are excellent. And it is not a straight, "one-par graph" comparison to the best school. Rather, it is a multifaceted, convoluted, complicated decision and deciding where to spend the next several years of your life does not reduce the impact of the outcome.

I said money was "less important" on my desicion, I did not say that it wasnt a factor. But your point is well taken...😎
