I'm looking to move from the West Coast to the East and interviewed at Cornell this season. I really enjoyed my day there: amazing morning report, fun dinner with residents, great noon conference. I've heard mixed things about it though; opinions seem to range from it being friendly to malignant and am wondering if the interview days were variable.
Any thoughts on your interview experience?

bump

did no one interview at cornell this year? lol

Just make sure you do not jump off a gorge!!

🙂

Haha, while Ithaca(where Cornell undergrad is located) may be "gorges", the med school/hospital is located in NYC which is gorge free😉

Cornell was probably my favorite NYC program from the interview trail. Things that stood out for me were the friendly residents and attendings, the location and the best/cheapest subsidized housing in NYC(at least of the programs I saw). All in all I thought it was an outstanding program. Haven't finished my rank list but it will likely be high.

Good luck

Not sure if the rank lists were submitted already, but I'm a resident at Cornell and I LOVE IT! I could not be happier, and I'm not just saying that. I really like my fellow residents, the teaching is awesome, the hospital runs relatively well for a NYC hospital, and the housing/location can't be beat.

It's the little things also that make me happy day to day like: 10 dollars a day for food (!), respect for census caps/work hours, and taking a tunnel to work when it's cold outside 🙂

Down sides are very hard PGY-3 year. Despite this, I highly recommend the program.

Neuromusic - any info you can give about the number of MDs vs MD/PhDs in the program currently? I don't think the Cornell website has that info/residents names/med schools available (unless I'm missing something obvious). If you could get your program to publish that, like many other programs' sites, that'd be great!
