It's hard to get a good sense of programs. What do you guys think of these programs (I listed what I know about it)

UNC - good reputation, but heard the residents get worked
U South Carolina - don't know much about this program
Utah - amazing neuro, great place to be right in the mountains
Univ Colorado - Mountains are great. Heard they play favorites to IR residents over DR residents in general? I heard their IR is good.
UC Davis - small program, don't really know much else
UCLA - good reputation, procedures are done by each subspecialty.
Mount Sinai - don't know much about this
Lennox Hill - affluent part of town, good to be in NYC, but community program may not be as good as a big academic program?
Penn - great reputation, all good departments, lots of moonlighting available, research heavy
U New Mexico - don't know much about this program
Duke - heard the residents work a lot here, but amazing training
UT Southwestern - good overall program
Emory - BIG program, is that good?

Every program is going to prioritize IR residents over DR residents in terms of IR.

Penn has lots of fellows so the residents come out a little weak so I've heard. Also they are on the record as saying that rad extenders are better than their residents.

Emory is a great program. You will work hard.

I did fellowship at Duke. The day-workflow at Duke is very-fellow heavy. None of my co-fellows thought the residents had to work that hard during the day.

That being said, they still do independent overnight call with all modalities (they can read a fair amount of acute MR overnight) as well as having to do a hip aspiration or LP. The night call is challenging.

Penn is leading the way in midlevel independence, and they’ve already tried to make inroads into radiology.

I'm freaking tired of these wannabees and their inferiority complex.
