EMRA, an independent group representing EM residents, requires all members to be ACEP members in their bylaws.

Well it was formed out of ACEP in the 1970’s and is the resident voice within ACEP. Technically it is seperate, but they have cooperative agreements: https://www.acep.org/uploadedFiles/ACEP/Practice_Resources/gme/residents/EMRA-ACEP final.doc
If you want something different, join the RSA of AAEM or join SAEM.

While there are great benefits to joining...
EMRA is pretty much owned by ACEP (the former's headquarters are located within the latter's building).
ACEP is pretty much owned by CMG's.
Ever notice how EMRA's materials have sponsored by/made possible by/promotions for USACS plastered all over it?
EMRA is not really "independent". They could also say "EMRA is the first intergalactic space warrior resident organization." There is no laws against your adjectives in marketing.
