So I'm trying to fit in as many major requirements as possible before I take the DAT (trying to graduate by Summer 2012 to start Fall 2012) which means I'll have my OChem I this coming Winter, and OChem II in Spring. I'll probably take the DAT mid-May before completing the term, with the intention of giving myself enough time for a retake mid-August, and possibly even take off that Summer term to fully dedicate to DAT studying. I see this as a better option than giving myself only one chance after Spring finishes (not really keen on the Sept. DAT retake idea). It seems that if I take it mid-May, even if I'm not as prepared as I would like, it would give me an idea of what to expect so I would have more of an advantage when I took it again in August. Is this bad thinking?

Anyway, the main point of this was to get your thoughts on OChem II in 8wk Spring or Summer from those of you who have done it. My plan at the moment is to take the labs with it, and Genetics also. This gets me past the 6 credit (7 total) mark I need to qualify for Pell+full scholarship. I thought about dropping genetics or lab, but I've heard genetics can be quite useful for the DAT. Dropping the OChem lab doesn't seem as bad however, although I would be paying out of pocket for that term having only 5 credits. While this would hurt the pocketbook right before applying/interviews, it still might be worth it...? Thoughts please... thanks!
