What's the timeline like from Application to Commissioning? I have an interview coming up and I'm relatively confident I'll be accepted. I'm curious if I should get the paperwork rolling now or wait until the acceptance.

Please don't fill this thread up with, "Don't do it" comments; I've read through most of them already.

OK, I won't tell you "don't do it", since you already know you shouldn't.

I remember your threads from about a year ago.

As I remember, you get commissioned as an ENS/O1 on the day you sign your contract. You get commissioned as a LT/O3 on the day you graduate medical school.

You have to get orders and then have a commissioned officer administer the oath of office before you're commissioned.

I was sworn in the same day that I signed my contract. I was a senior in college at the time.

I would start the application process now if I were you. If you are sure you want to do it, why not get it over with.

I began my AF application in Aug (went through MEPS, etc) and had my application ready last year when I began interviewing. I got my first acceptance letter October 15, submitted my application--which went to the Nov board (and then was rescheduled for the Dec selection board), and found out between x-mas and New Years. I comissioned 20Jan.
