A couple of years ago, when I typed something like PCAT, PharmD, MD into a Google search engine. The links that screamed for attention left no doubt that a wealth of information regarding anything pharmacy, medical education awaited. It did not disapoint.
I have read the blogs of pre-medical students who many are now in medical school. One pharmacy student, who used to blog is now a P4 at NOVA. She was already going on P2 when I found out about SDN. Another (dgroulx) graduated from UF and regrets having gone into retail. Still another (trancelucent 1) is following her path into residency and is a UF alumn.
I have read suggestions of veteran pharmacists (SDN1977 and others) and you were not cheated of information. In all, these information have proved useful. Someone else's PCAT, GPA was not going to get me into a pharmD program and I never asked such trivial questions. Rather, the approach to the pharmacy application is what helped. I searched for motivation to pursue pharmacy vs medical school here. As if I was doing a research paper, I could pull posts I've read when appropriate to make a point. SDN, became another hangout in the blogosphere of forums. At times, informative or just a chatter-box machine with inputs from real people, some of whom will be my classmates.
Well, the time has come for me to say good-bye. The time has come for me to graduate...
To graduate to the PharmD students forum 😛
Now, if I could recruit Passion4Sci, a great thinker to the forum but I'm not sure if he's already in pharmacy school. I'm hungry for great, intellectual posts to feed my inquisitive mind. Or even of good writing appropriate of future PharmDs. The great thing, is that SDN has them all: the nerds, the blabber-mouth, the angry, the jovial. Many have something in common: they are either on their way or are already PharmDs. They are all smart individuals. These are my future colleagues in the blogosphere of pharmacy forums.
Where will I be in four years? Hopefully having graduated from UF and into a residency spot in beautiful & sunny Florida.
