Hi all, after entering medicine 1st year... when is one eligable to take the USMLE's ? I figure if you do it during med school than by the time you get out you can do residency right away?

how does it work?!?!?

Check with USMLE Most take step 1 at the end of their second year, before starting rotations. If you are a US student, you can take step 2 anytime from once you are within a year of graduating until you start residency (maybe later). I don't think you can take step 3 until after you graduate. In some states you can take it at anytime, in others, you have to have been in a residency for a certain amount of time.
