so i've been reading a lot about these summer dentistry programs, i.e. upenn's pre-dental program, and umdnj's gateway to dentistry program and i'm just unsure as to when i should attend, if at all. this summer i was planning on hopefully studying for the DAT, while taking summer classes and shadowing a dentist (if i can find one)...would it be too late for me to consider these programs during the summer of my junior year? if was to attend one of these programs during the summer of my junior year, would it look like a last ditch effort to have something impressive on my resume?

taking summer intensive courses And studying for the DAT's? I mean if you have really good time management that might be ok.... but you should really focus all your energy in to acing that DAT's dude, adding a 0.1 on ur gpa wont be a difference if your DAT is points below what you could have. If you can manage classes plus studying for your DAT, good for you... But adding an internship just doesn't seem to realistic. Prioritize dude. If I were you, I'd study for the DAT's while doing the internship. Summer intensive courses really really blow, especially if your thinking of taking a science course.. I dont know about your school, but taking a full semester course packed in to 4 or 6 weeks in my school during the summer was the worst.. One of those grades will suffer...

well i go to Rutgers in NJ

i was planning on taking a science or econ course...but im leaning towards some science course to boost my science gpa (summer science courses tend to be a tad bit easier).

but see the thing is, i'm a soph. right now and im not sure about when i should take my DAT, let alone prepare for them. I was thinking about studying this summer and taking it later on..like spring of my junior year..but I want to take it twice.

any advice?

Rutgers science summer courses are HORRIBLE, I only took them because transferring screwed me over. Take NONSCIENCE summer courses, I heard they are ridiculously easy!!! 🙂
