Can anyone help me with this question:

During the titration of a 50ml solution of 2.5M alanine, 62.5ml of 1.0M NaOH is added to identify the first buffer region at pH 2.3. At what pH would the next buffer region be expected? The pI of alanine is 6.

The answer is 9.7.

Thanks in advance!

The PI is average of two buffer pH. If the pI of alanine is 6 and the first buffer pH was 2.3, then the (2.3+x)/2=6

The x is 9.7
