How specific do they want us to be? I can describe sorts of different settings, but I'm not exactly sure which one they want. Is it hospital vs privately owned? City vs rural area? I was thinking they want something general like that or am I off track?

I was wondering the same thing. This is the essay I'm stuck on! 500 words is kind of a lot for this essay....
 
okay, maybe this is a not so smart question but i thought texas schools didn't require LORs for interviews? but TMDAS don't get processed until LORs are in?

TMDSAS will process and verify applications without LORs
 
I just finished two biology classes for the first summer session and received A's. However, my university does not post summer grades on the transcripts until the end of the summer. I'd really like these two A's to be factored into my gpa as soon as possible, but I know TMDSAS doesn't update grades without official transcripts. Any ideas guys?

To everyone who's waiting on updates from TMDSAS on their status page:

Call them and e-mail them! Bug them like mad (but be polite about it). It took them four weeks to acknowledge that they received my transcript, and after two e-mails and one phone call, TMDSAS finally acknowledged on the 13th that they received my certification page on the 10th. TMDSAS, shame on you for toying with my emotions.

Are you serious, I got a fishy email from them. I was waiting so long for an update so I emailed them and they said my application was complete 😕 TMDSAS must have recruited some people from AMCAS, thats my only explanation lol.

I think two people got left out from the previous list somehow...
 
For the UT Southwestern and Texas Tech secondaries, they ask you to list activities related to the boxes we checked. Does that mean just list them? Or list them with a description next to it? If the latter, how long should the descriptions be?

Mine is turning into a paragraph for each of the activities. I feel like I have to describe them and explain why they contribute to my desire to participate in primary care, etc.....

Is anyone else doing that? 😕
 
My TMDSAS application has just been verified and after looking at my applicant profile I realized I made a big mistake. I put "Yes" for the question "Do you plan on taking the fall administration of the MCAT." 😡 I've already released my April MCAT score and have no interest in taking the August MCAT. Also, I've submitted an email to TMDSAS so they can change the error, but who knows when they will change it. 🙁

So, my question is, are the schools not even looking at my application right now because I answered "Yes" to that question? 🙁
 
Bah, submitted early July and no update as of yet 🙁

EDIT: nm, just checked and am good to go, but why haven't I received an email saying I'm verified??

Interesting email from UTSouthwestern -- they are just now saying they received my TMDSAS primary application which was sent to them June 16th -- its been a month since then??

I got the same email. I think what it means is that even though TMDSAS sent them when they were processed, UTSW is now picking up the applications from the pile and reviewing them. I think the email pretty much just acknowledges that your application was picked up from the pile. Hopefully interview invites will be soon forthcoming!
 
I got the same e-mail. I almost started to get really excitted.
 
yeah, last year I got an interview invite 2 1/2 hours after I got that email from UTSW (my secondary was also in). Guess the invites are coming out real soon for you guys. good luck.

Jota, lilTXcat, spursss - have you submitted the secondary already? I just submitted mine last Friday, so that is why I assumed I got the email today. Of course, I've given up guessing when things from TMDSAS are going to arrive at the schools.... it seems almost as random as AMCAS verifications! 😉

Yes, I already submitted the secondary. I got a separate email confirming its submission (pretty much right after I submitted it.)
 
Hey i have searched but I can't find the answer to this. Sorry if it has already been answered. I'm new to the forums. Does anyone know if psychology classes count as science classes when listing them in TMDSAS class history? I can't see how some of my psychology classes like biopsychology wouldn't count, however I don't see how others like controversial issues in development would count as science. If anyone can direct me to an answer I would really appreciate it.

This question has been answered in this very thread a few times so far.

Psychology courses are NOT counted as Science courses.
 
On the second essay for UT Southwestern, they say to try to limit the response to 500 words if possible. Does it look bad if I have around 700? I kind of have a lot to say.... 😀
 
Hey I was just processed today by TMDAS, but the letter from Interfolio has a * by it. DO I have to ask my writer for a new LOR or can he just send in that sheet?

just a general question, were your tmdas gpas the same as amcas? Thanks
 
Overall GPAs were equal, but due to the differences in what is counted in AMCAS BCPM vs. TMDSAS Science GPA, my BCPM GPA was MUCH different than my TMDSAS Science GPA.
 
same overall gpa, but my amcas sci gpa is 3.3 while tmdsas sci gpa is 3.2. curse you, B+'s!

After you're processed and verified, your gpa will show up on your profile for both.

I haven't submitted UT southwestern yet, but for Texas Tech I just listed my experiences with maybe one or two lines max of an explanation. I wasn't sure if they wanted more, but since they said 'list' I figured they probably wanted just some info now, and they will ask more detail in the interview.

Also, for Tech I had my list nicely formatted, put a line in between each experience, looked good. But only after you submit do they give you a printer friendly version. And all my experiences were crammed together! I can't believe they changed the formatting on me. Did anyone else have that problem??

EX: Here's what I typed:

-Experience1: Description, Description, Description

-Experience1: Description, Description, Description

This is what printed out:

-Experience1: Description, Description, Description -Experience1: Description, Description, Description


Anyway, I didn't list the dates and hours for each experience because most of them were already listed in my primary.

I havent submitted mine yet either. But, I listed dates and hours. Now that I think about it, that might now be necessary since it's in the primary like you said. Anyone else?

To the resident TMDSAS course listing aficionado, jota_jota, I have a few quick questions. 1) How do you list advanced bio courses (i.e. molecular genetics, histology, etc.)? Are they “Bio lec/lec & lab” or “Other Science”? 2) Although it has been broached before, what do you do for “Course IDS” that are longer than the space provided (i.e. BIOL 1101)? And 3) In general, are the tabs, excluding “Non Science” and “Other science” reserved for the prerequisite courses with everything else falling into one of the former two categories (a seeming answer to #1)? Lastly, does TMDSAS answer these questions specifically or definitively anywhere on the site? I apologize for the repetitive nature of these questions. Thanks in advance.
 
Okay so I went to check my TT status page and it says something like:
"Medical School Application PIN" and it says they just received it today. What is that!? I never noticed it before.
 
Tried calling the UT Southwestern office of admissions, and they said that they're not sure if the box would expand to over 500 words for the second essay (the one in regards to setting). I figured it would expand indefinitely since they indicate to limit the response to 500 words or less IF POSSIBLE. Anyone write over 500 words and not have it cut off? 😕

When I submitted last year, the printable version included all of my essay and I had gone over 500 words.

Ok - so I have nothing to base this on except a couple of calls to admissions offices to Tech and TCOM because it was taking so long for TMDSAS to forward their versions of my LORs. They both said I could send my other copies of the same LORs from Interfolio to them and they didn't care about the "evaluation page" that TMDSAS requires. Take that for what it is worth... I would probably call the schools I'm worried about and ask what they would do with "unofficial" letters.

Thanks🙂 I just applied to Houston, Galveston, and SA---the one I REALLY want is Houston---but it was only 20 bucks for the other two :laugh: I am just going to ask my LOR writer for another letter to be sent along with the form, I don't wanna look like a putz, Im already an ooser 🙄

Personally I don't think it should - who can fault you for being succinct and not wasting anyone's time? But then, I'm nothing but a lowly pre-med with no adcom experience. 😛
