I was rejected today by UTDB. It made me laugh. Oh well, going to Dallas this month to find an apartment.
 
Sorry to hear that japredent...Its been a long road for us, the way its going right now I'll prob be following you to dallas in the next few months eek!! On the upside Baylor is AMAZING!! So congrats on joining the Baylor Family!!

i mean no offense, and actually none should be taken since the one's i'm directing this to are already accepted somewhere else! but from what gobeaux said...since you guys are already accepted somewhere else and i'm sure put down a deposit as backup aren't you out of the running? he said that they wouldn't be picking people that already have been accepted right?

i guess there wouldnt have been a point on putting you on the alt list though...so maybe theres hope for you guys?! BUT....... :scared: they may not start checking until may 1 so who knows
 
Hey iamtony!! No worries, no offense was taken...I'm sure the admissions committee has a way of working these things out...So we'll just see how it goes, and what ends up happening in the long run...Best of luck to you though, as you wait for final decisions!!

Pretty good since you're a URM. But that GPA is kinda spotty. Take some upper level sciences at UTD and ace them to get an upward trend. It doesn't cost that much to apply, I don't see why you wouldn't do it.
 
Just a reminder to update your predent profiles. The dates will be pretty helpful to the next cycle
 
If I don't get in this year then it will be my 3rd time applying this may.. There is still hope!!!👍

I have no idea how you stay so positive. This is my second time applying and I wake up everyday wanting to smash everything in sight.

Houston is a great school in my opinion. I just felt the interviewer made me very uncomfortable. I'm not mentioning any names but it was a woman and she had an accent.

I have already gone through the phase that you are talking about. There is no point in being so nervous. Just leave it to god. 👍

you would be in good shape. Try to have upper level corses completed, Baylor likes that.

18? Aim all the way for 30. Don't sell yourself short, try your best and you'll get a good score.

I honestly think you're going to need more then a 18 to have a good chance with that GPA.

Naw, baylors the only school I've ever wanted to attend (born and raised in Dallas, own a home here). Only been to Houston once and didn't like it (although the schools supposed to be really nice once they build everything).

As my friend Lloyd from dumb and dumber would say "so your saying there's a chance" I could be accepted to Baylor with DAT of 24+ this year? Or should I ago ahead and apply for post bacc at UTD? What do u think..

You should do both. Get that 24 on your DAT and apply for post bac. They're going to see your plans for your off year and take that into account as well.

Ace your post bac classes and you'll be good for next year as well.

It will look bad if you plan on doing nothing academically in your off year.

Yeah you need to apply early, rock the DAT, and have plans to be in school all the way until DS starts. You're only shot is at Baylor and they hate it when students have an academic break between undergrad/DS.

I second the last sentence of this. Pretty sure it's why I didn't get into Baylor (still waiting to be officially rejected, though lol).
 
Is there a desdline for those who hold multiple spots to make their final decision?
 
What if I don't know what schools outside of Texas I'm applying to as of now but they want me to go ahead and list all the OOS schools on the application for TMDSAS? should I click no for now and can I update where all I decided after I've submitted this application? I wont know what OOS schools I want to apply to until I take my DAT is a couple weeks.

Deadline just pasted for post bacc at UTD. So I can't do a post bacc...can I just take science courses until acceptance or find another university that offers post bacc? I have decided to go on and apply this year,my number one school is Baylor, what other schools would work for me?

Just name of a handful of schools you're considering. Honestly, I don't think anyone really checks to see if you really do or not. Maybe it would come up if you have multiple acceptances in state and out of state and you initially said you didn't apply out of state. I don't think you can go back and edit this part of the application.

Do the informal post bac. Reapply to UTD and take upper level biology courses. It's really the same thing as the post bac program at UTD other then the extra time with advisors.

Apply to all the Texas schools, it's really cheap to apply to all of them. Other then that, do some school research and find which ones fit your potential stats and appeal to Hispanics. Buy the official ADEA book and it will give you an ethnic break down for all the acceptances at every schools.

No I wish, I'm sitting on a bunch of wait lists for this cycle so I'll probably have to apply again.

Apply to Houston and San Antonio as well. All the texas schools use the same application process (TMDSAS) and it only costs you $95 for all three. That's a ridiculously good deal. Everyone who applies for a texas school should just apply to all three.

Thank you Awesome Teeth. One more question if you don't mind. Will my application viewing be delayed if I fill out the "planned enrollment" section stating I will be taking classes b/w now and Aug? This also will be depending on my DAT so I really don't want to state that I will be just incase they're going to wait till those grades in August to evaluate at my application. What's the best way to go about this if I'm unsure about taking classes?
 
If I'm just planning to apply to Baylor is there any reason to use TMDSAS or should I just go through BAMF?

No it won't be delayed. It's just so they know what you're going to be doing in the summer. You can then send a grade update after the summer. Isn't it about to be late to sign up for summer classes? You should decide now if you're going to take them or not.

I participated in the Baylor HS summer enrichment program as well as the Baylor SPEP... I applied to Baylor's post bacc as a back up plan, got rejected. Dr. Lacy said i didn't need it and just reapply again IF i don't get in this year......AAAGH!

I talked to Janet, she said that they typically don't see movement in april or may, more so in June and July. A few of my friends at my school were accepted off the waitlist...

I'm still left clueless as to what my chances are. Anyone know how many students have holds in more than one school? I'm worried there won't be any more movement on the waitlist.

Any info would help ease my mind...

They usually hold a few spots just in case any D1s fail and have to repeat 1st year. Once those spots become available, they'll let you know. You may not hear anything official until June or July because some D1s may have to remediate over the summer.

How do I know this? Because I was you last year! I was told about this time last year that I was third on the waitlist as well. I finally ended up getting officially accepted in July and believe it or not, a few people got in AFTER me! Your chances are very good, it'll just be an agonizing few weeks/months! Good luck and pray for our class as we approach finals!

Did you get a phone call from Janet telling you about being 3rd on the wait list? Or did you call them?

Also surprised you didn't get in Dec 1 since you did all their dental programs. Do you mind if you tell us your stats?

omg, that means I still have hope!!!! ^_^ I don't want to get my hopes up.. but I want it soooo baaaad. I've been so stressed about this for the longest time. BLAH! But thanks for the info!!!!!!

So what did you do in the mean time while you waited during the summer? Did you reapply and do everything all over again? I don't know if I should reapply and pay all those application fees again.

I received an email Feb 25 asking if I wanted to be put on the alternate list. Mid April, Janet called me and told me that I was 3rd on the list.

I interviewed with Dr. Lacy and Dr. Miller for the Post Bacc program and they basically told me the weakest point on my dental application was the DAT. I pretty much screwed myself over because I thought i'd have time to study for the DAT during the SPEP program. Boy, was I WRONG. That program was M-F 8am-9pm with an hour break for lunch and hour break for dinner. IT was like that for 2 weeks until they realized everyone was sleeping in class, so they changed it to 8am-7pm. THat still didn't give us enough time to eat, shower, break, or study on our own for the DAT when we got back to our apt. On top of that, we had an exam at the beginning of each week over lectures given by the Baylor professors the previous week.

I didn't really start hardcore studying for the DAT until 2 weeks before the scheduled date of the test. >.< I Watched chad's videos and I practically learned everything from him those two weeks. :laugh:

overal gpa: 3.625
Science gpa: 3.2
DAT: AA17 TS18 CHEM18 OCHEM19 BIOL17 COMP19 MATH14 😱 PAT19
I graduated a semester early and right now i'm just taking extra science courses that post bacc students would usually take.


Hopefully everything goes well.... I just want a nice summer to relax for the first time. I hate waiting.... :bang:

1 bedroom at Ambrose for 955/ month... its pricey but i like that the walk is literately 3 minutes from exit of apartments to entrance of school. The building also has its own garage which is pretty handy for the area considering car break ins.
 
I'm in the process of applying via TMDSAS and i'm FREAKING OUT!!! Totally freaking out, i've never second guessed this much in my life! I'm freaking out!!!
