Same. I know a lot goes into the decision of who to interview, but I'm a little frustrated. I have 20AA/21PAT, 3.72 undergrad, currently a 4.0 in graduate school. I have worked as a dental assistant and a treatment coordinator (over 2000 hrs in the field). And my ECs are pretty stacked with research, leadership positions, tons of community service. Not really sure what else I could possibly do. Hoping to hear something in the next month!
Just give it some time. I have slight higher GPA/DAT score, but no dental assistant and such ECs, and I didnt hear anything until beginning of October.

Is there anyone else that had there application completed by the end of August and have yet to hear anything? Congrats to everyone who has received an invitation but after seeing the two recent invites given out it is kind of worrying me thinking mine might have been skipped over. Especial since my stats are pretty similar. Just curious!

Me. TMDSAS received my completed app on August 15th. Above average DAT & GPA, good amount of shadowing and EC. Haven't heard a word yet...

What made you do grad school? Just curious.

I was accepted to Ole Miss dental school my senior year of college, but since it was right after my mom passed away- it was just bad timing. So, I moved to Dallas to be near my sister. I decided to work for a year as a treatment coordinator at a dental practice and honestly just missed school. The program is a post-bacc designed for people planning on medical/dental/PA schools, so it just made sense!

Great choice

Turning down an acceptance could have something to do with it. But I'm no Adcom so it could also not. Idk.

I feel like they'd understand the circumstance if it was included in his/her application.

Agreed. But if I were reviewing thousands of apps, it had better be neon blazing clear how and why. Heck, I hope he gets in!

Yeah i'm a she. It is explained pretty thoroughly in my personal essay. It was the most responsible decision for me mentally and emotionally since both of my parents passed away. It's not like it was a casual experience and I turned down the acceptance lightly.

Just an update about TAMUs new facility. The construction is starting next spring and the completion date is going to be earlier than expected. The new building should be up and fully functional November 2019.👍
(Also just to clarify its not just a new clinic like UTHSCSA. It's a whole new facility like UTSD)

Reading a lot of different posts on sdn about people getting interview invites right after they call for an update, sounds really tempting
Is calling really going to negatively impact your application? Desperate at this point to know what's taking so long

It can go both ways. Some people called and got rejected and some people call and hear back. Idk if we should really say interview invites come after they call. I called other schools and didn't hear back and the one school I didn't call sent me an invite.

It's so different for everyone!
I'm so scared to call and not get an invite but at the same time I'm so desperate at this point
I just wanna know that they haven't skipped over my application
I had to fix a mistake on it after it was transmitted to schools, I wonder if that made a difference

Hell, take the chance and call them. You paid for this service so why can't you at least be allowed to call to find out where your stuff has reached at this point. Do what makes you feel at ease. Seriously!!

Had my A&M and Houston interviews already and still haven't heard back from San Antonio....hmmm.

Any advice for A&M? I got mine this week.
It was very relaxed and conversational! It is three interviewers and 12 minutes each. Honestly, relax, be honest, and be yourself and you should be golden! Essentially most of the conversations consisted of things on my application so if you can back up all of what you did the past few years, you should be fine. Also, be sure to explain any weaknesses in your app (depends on your interviewer), because one of my interviewers asked me why I got Bs in two classes during my junior year right before I applied after maintaining a 4.0 throughout my freshman and sophomore years. But yeah, there's not really much besides researching the school (as with every other interview), being able to explain why you want to do dentistry, knowing your application well, and simply just being yourself!

I second this.

Thank you sir/ma'am! It's my number 1 pick so I'd love to obviously do well ha.

Hope the cycle treats you well!

Haha I understand. It was actually my very first interview that I had this cycle and a top choice for me, so I definitely was in your shoes at one point!

So, is it normal if UTSD Houston not respond to your email? I emailed Ms. Rene Pinale to update on stuff a week ago and haven't heard back from her. Perhaps, I emailed the wrong person?

Did you email any of the other schools?

Received an interview from Texas A&M/Baylor last week!
OOS with sgpa of 3.7 and overall gpa of 3.8
DAT AA/TS/PAT: 22/20/23

I have lots of family in Texas and Texas A&M is my top choice for dental school. Any advice on my interview day/ the chances of getting in out of state?
Getting in from OOS is tough but we have 9 OOS students in my class so it's definitely possible! Congrats on the interview! 👍

On my interview invitation email from TAMU it says "(afternoon)". I'm assuming that means my actual interview will be in the afternoon. Can anyone who's already interviewed confirm?

Thanks!

Have you received any invitation? They received my application on Sept 9th (I know it's super late) and haven't heard anything from 3 TX schools. I'm really scared. I'm TX resident and did got interview invitation from OOS school.

Imagine how I feel. TMDSAS didn't receive my last transcript until October 5th.... I'm also in state

I interviewed at OHSU. Beautiful campus, nice view of Portland, lovely people. You will enjoy it!
This is my first interview. I really like this school and don't want to mess up. Do you mind if I ask was there any writing prompt or any strange question? How many students were on that day? Thank you so much!!

When I interviewed, there were 5 of us. They have a written portion in which you were given a prompt and you sat there and write it. Each interviewee has a different question. Interview is with 2 faculties each for 30 mins.
