Have you called to ask about it? All my advisors are telling me not to so I'm confused. I submitted 8/2. If we haven't heard by now does that mean no pre dec interview?

Probably (hopefully?) not. I don't think all of the November interview slots have been filled yet. (I hope)
 
I called on friday and was told by baylor and SA that my app is under review.... What else can we do?????

I haven't called them for an update as their emails specifically states not to call them about status updates, etc. Really worried myself, but like @prophyprincess says, we can we do?
 
Interviews will usually be sent out 2 weeks prior to your interview. There's still time. Don't worry if you get a post-December or pre-December interview.... it really doesn't matter. My first interview was with Baylor in September and didn't get in. My last interviews were with Houston and SA in January and March, respectively.

Im just confused on how people who submitted in September got interviews like a week after and I submitted in early august.

Was it the interview in March for SA bc I thought that the last one was in January. Sorry if I misread your post.

This may sound rude, and I apologize for that, but what makes you believe that schools owe you an invite? I see this sentiment a lot on here, there's no guarantee or promise for then to respond to you or give you an invitation to interview.

If I remember correctly, Houston and San Antonio get something like 1300 applications, and only interview 300. Baylor gets around 3100 and interviews a relatively similar amount.

Why does it surprise you that you may not recieve an interview?

Well I might not have the highest stats but overall I have a pretty well rounded application along with recommendations from professors that have ties with the school I want to go to and have told me themselves on how to build an approving application l, so I feel like I've earned the right to be hopeful. Thanks

There is nothing wrong with being hopeful, but that does not mean that you are guarantee an interview invite either.
I was in the same spot when I thought why are they receiving interview and I dont, then I realized that stats are not enough. They might have something in their app that is more significant than you, which caught adcom's attention.

I'm not saying that you are not a well-rounded applicant, but when two applicants are put on the table, adcoms has to choose the one that seem more unique, and to certain extend, fit the school. And truth is, that may not be you.
 
Any way you slice it there's also an element of luck to this. Not every application is gonna be reviewed by the same person on the adcom, so sometimes you need a good draw. Believe it or not, there are a lot of very deserving applicants who will get passed up every year. That's just how all this works.

Exactly, I'm not denying that you deserve the chance to be interviewed, but I hate the mindset of "I didn't get an interview they just have skipped my file or made a mistake" when I was at my interviews everyone of the other applicants were INCREDIBLE. I felt lucky just to be in a room with them. So if I don't get accepted, I'll be upset but only at myself for not doing as well as they did.

There's luck involved but we also just have to be self aware. Like it was stated above, the adcoms are looking for fit in addition to intelligence. It's not simply a "I submitted my app, I should be interviewed" thing.

You're right and I completely understand that
I never meant that I expect an interview, it's just at this point, when we've all worked so hard it's hard to ignore your nerves. Patience and persistence is the only way out of this I guess

Three 12-15 minute interviews, decently relaxed.

VERY open file, they definitely ask you about everything in your application including grades.

Wasn't bad at all though.

I would (unless you have like a 3.8+ gpa/23+ DAT)... you never know how the cycle's gonna play out.

I know a TX resident with a 3.8gpa/21AA who didn't get a single TX acceptance after interview. He only got into one school (Tufts, believe it or not).

It's always good to have a "back up" even if you don't think you need it. Tufts was great. I enjoyed the school and the interview. Nice people and Boston is amazing.
For me it wasn't a "back up" so much as a good OOS option.

It is daunting, no way around it, but there are options to get through it.

Idk, my thought process when I applied was, if this is the only school I get into, would I go? You probably had the same. Just know that Tufts accepts about 80% of their interviewees so it'd be nice to have at least one option come December 🙂

Just my 2 cents.

Update: Baylor just told me that they review every single app that comes in, usually multiple times to grant interviews, so those who haven't heard yet because they applied later should be OK.

You can't, TMDSAS status does not change on the portal after interview invites or anything. You'd have to check with the dental school. I would call them on Monday and tell them to take note of your email change.
