TMDSAS LORs Question

TMDSAS allows 4 LORs, and I’m deciding which to submit.

I have:
-2 science professor letters
-1 from MD surgeon I shadowed for >1 year
-1 from MD clinical research mentor on patient outcomes during undergrad
-1 from MD/physician-scientist current PI for bench research + shadowing

I’ve heard shadowing letters are usually less helpful, so I’m leaning toward 2 science profs + 2 research mentors/PIs. These four should be strong letters.

Would this look too science/research-heavy for MD apps, or is this a reasonable LOR mix for TMDSAS?

I’d appreciate insights if you have on this case.

If you are including TCOM in your school list it would be better to include a physician letter as one of your 4. It’s ok if they are an MD not a DO.
Then you would decide which of your research letter writers knows you best and choose 1

Thanks so much for the insight. Do you know if it’s fine to submit the surgeon letter from last year? He changed assistant recently and it’s been hard to reach him for letter update.

You can use it if the date is May 1 2025 or after, according to this year's TMDSAS guide.
The letter needs to be uploaded by the writer, not by you, unless you have it stored in Interfolio or some other file storing service. If that's where you have the letter, you can have it sent from your Interfolio account.
