Hey everyone,

So I have a number of volunteer events that I'd like to list for cancer-related events (Relay for Life, MD Anderson Scope5K, etc.) and I understand that these are obviously basically community service more than anything healthcare related, but I'm confused as to where people are listing these on their TMDSAS. This is the subtitle for community service:

"Do you have any non-healthcare related community service or volunteer activities to enter?"

Something like the Scope5K is somewhat loosely related to healthcare (compared to volunteering at the VA, or something to that effect), so I'm not sure if I should put that under community service or healthcare activities, which is titled like so:

"Do you have any healthcare related community service, volunteer, employment OR shadowing experience to enter?"

Of course none of this is really a big deal at all probably.

They encourage you to enter items in more than one category if it can fit into both. It's a stretch saying those are healthcare related, though.

Ask yourself, "did I see people receiving medical care during my engagement in this activity?" For things like walk-a-thons, I would not count the medical tent unless you were an authorized volunteer providing services in that tent.

If there were no patients there, it was not a healthcare activity.

Yep, pretty much what I was thinking as well. Thanks everyone for confirming!
