I have been trying very hard to take small amounts of notes on the most important material as i have been reviewing EK MCAT books. However, I end up with 5-7 pages front and back usually and the least I have taken is 2-3 pages (this is hand written, per lecture in the EK books). I would love some advice from people who can take very concise and yet complete notes. I want to have a quick reference for review for each lecture Ive done and mine are way to long. Or if anyone knows if any resources to buy or online to download that has a good set of review notes/ flashcards etc that would be very helpful!!!!! Any advice?

It really depends how you learn. Are you just taking notes for the sake of taking notes, or are you learning the topics too while you take notes.

For me, I learn by writing down what I read. I mean reading is fine too, but if I write a bit down of what I read, it sticks in my head more. But for the Kaplan Review notes, I usually get 3-4 pages, but not front and back (I hate writing in the back of a paper) of each chapter.

Maybe your just copying word for word and not really learning it, I dont know, but it shouldn't be that much for each lecture.

I am the same way I have to write things down to learn them, but then I have to go back over the notes to have it stick well...it depends on the lecture how many pages I have of notes but I am trying to find a way to limit it to 2-3 pages or find resources that have the main points that I can reference instead of reading my book of notes. I have seen on here people who only take 1/3 of a page of notes per lecture and I have no clue how they do that but I would love to know🙂

haha, thats cool that were both the same way. This method of learning doesnt bother me, but your writing hand does hurt after awhile. 🙂

ya i have decided to try a different method today and try to type up notes and see how that goes, it hasnt worked in the past but i am hoping it will now, takes less time🙂

haha, you know whats funny, I actually tried that a few times when Im so sick of writing. Trying to type notes, but it never works for me. I get distracted, and nothing goes in my head. lol

I also find that it's really hard to limit the amount of notes I take, but it's helping me learn the material. I have about 16 pages for the EK physics notes. 😱 I usually type up my notes. Right now, I'm trying to cut back on my notes by just getting the main key points from each section and ignoring some of the extra info.

Ya I just have trouble knowing what to cut out and what not too, I mean i know that EK tells you the very very important stuff but all the other I dont know🙂

I know what you mean since EK is already pretty condensed! Physics is my biggest weakness so I have a ton of notes for it. If you're weak in a subject, I wouldn't feel too bad about taking a lot of notes as long as it's helping the material stick in your mind. I'm doing G chem notes now and I've just been going through and summarizing each section in the lecture. I use a lot of abbreviations so that's keeping my page # down too. Good luck! 😀

Thanks ya physics is awful for me too, so i have so many notes on that, but then again I do on everything so oh well🙂

http://www.ben9blog.com/mcatnotes.zip is my EK note set. I was aiming to be concise but moreover I wanted to be complete. They are long--but I reviewed them every day. I'm used to memorizing 25+ page typed note sets from my bio classes though so I didn't think this was that big of a deal.

Btw, I highly recommend downloading the OneNote viewer to open the .pkg file. It looks much better organized in that and the graphics show up more clearly.

Where is that one note viewer?

AFter reviewing the material for a while,
what i do is just write stuff that I do not know onto note cards and just use key words.

I review those materials and then stuff that I am absolutely befuddled about, I go back to the sources.
Don't get too detailed. Chances are your notes are too detailed?

I am not sure if I was of any help.

Is this the same download included in another thread with your notes on G Chem and Bio? Or is it another one? Are there other subjects included?

x2 where do i get those files PJ included, it seems that website he/she included is no longer being maintained.

This might be because you're replying to a thread over a year old...
