ashlee simpson - she's just trying to be herself lol
good charlotte - omg like they're so punk and rebellious
50 cent - he's a gangster and owns a gun and has lots of sex
Linkin Park - sometimes when I get too happy, I listen to their music.

When studying, I try to play music that doesn't have words. I prefer George Winston.

When that doesn't work, I try to put myself someplace nice, like Maui, and listen to almost every Jimmy Buffet album.

I've been wanting to get the new springstein album...any thoughts?

For some odd reason, it depends on what im studying. If im just storing info then pretty much a mix of RnB, classical, and songs from musicals (yea i know..lol..no comment needed). If Im having difficulty understanding the material, usually classical music, consisting of mostly unfinished Franz Schubert, requiem, lacrymosa etc, seems to get the brain cells going. Luciano pavoratti seems to work also, Nessum dorma <~most of my friends think his voice is piercing, lol, Im sure theyre not studying to any of his music. Ive also got a lot of stuff from Hair, the broadway play. Its a good play if you havent seen it

to rock out: switchfoot, lostprophets, yellowcard

to mellow out without singing or headbanging: smooth jazz (SO not elevator music)

:D Linkin Park continues to prove my theory that they hang out around girl's middle school locker rooms for inspiration.

Currently playing on Mr. Adventure's I-Pod: Gary Jules

weezer, ben folds, coldplay, AFI, Franz Ferdinand, Green Day, Linkin Park/Jay-Z, Jet, Phantom Planet, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead...and many many more

Yea, I have the No Silence CD, but 7 Years is the "new" album he has out. I put new in quotations cuz its the latest, but not all the tracks are new. Some of them are remixes of his classics. No Silence is definitely a great album.

caveat: i know my nerdish image shows loud and clear in the following, but here it goes...

From my classical cache: Rachmaninov's piano concertos (definitely 2 & 3), Chopin's piano music, Dvorak symphony 9, Tchaikovsky (symphonies 4 or 6), and symphonies by Brahms...

From the jazz genre: most anything from Miles Davis, John Coltraine, Louis Armstrong, or Duke Ellington.

And when i'm in the car, COUNTRY all the way! :D

Pumpkins (nobody listens to them anymore??)
QOTSA
White Stripes
Modest Mouse
Beach Boys
Interpol
Black Keys
The Ponys
Pinback

Eminem, 2pac

Actually nobody plays Rachmaninoff better than Ashkenazy.

anyone else that listens to egyptian music?

Oh I dig Egyptian music also, or to be more precise Arabic music in general. Have you ever checked out the webpage Mazika.com, they've got a lot of cool and free downloads by many popular Arab artists.
