I'm about to enter college and I am pretty much set on doing whatever to become an orthopedic surgeon. Are the pre med years too early to start research? I've already spent over 200 hours with an orthopedic surgeon and researched and completed cade studies on rotator cuff tears and surgery and total knee replacement and knee arthroscopy/meniscus repair. Thanks for the help.

what do you mean by researched and completed? And what is cade?

Go for it. I wish I could have had a research opp. earlier in college. Just make sure it does not interfere with getting a great GPA as getting settled is tough at first, especially when your school has an intense weedout class 🙂:cough::genchem::cough:🙂

Never too early to do research. I wish I had the opportunity to start my 1st year of college.

Never to early. I know people that came out of the womb with neo natal acne from that point on wanted to become a dermatologist and started doing research.

nope, the sooner the better. just don't forget to volunteer at hospitals and shadow doctors (which is just as important as research).

I'm actually going to start my research in breast cancer next week. I'm only a sophomore (which is still early considering the majority of premeds i've talked to started in their junior year).
