Hey all,

Definitely could use some guidance b/c this summer did not go as planned and I still have to start and submit secondaries. Question is, is it worth it? Am I too late for this cycle?

I just took retook the MCAT on 9/11 (got a 23 the first time) and am still waiting on scores for that; they come out Oct 11th. At this point, would waiting an extra 3 weeks for my score be further disadvantageous? I'll have my essays ready by then of course but I still would feel comfortable knowing my score since the first one wasn't so great. I'm only applying to DO schools if that makes any difference.

Also I'm currently in LECOM's post-bac program and there is a linkage if you perform well in the program. Should I just focus on getting the GPA for this? Just want to apply to a few other schools just in case.

Any feedback would be great. Thanks 🙂

How were you doing on the practice tests while studying for the second take of the MCAT?

I was averaging around 28 but I definitely have no idea how to gauge/predict how I did on teh real test. I didn't feel confident coming out of it :/

When you studied for the first one, were you averaging around 28 as well?

No, the first time around my scores were a little scattered and I took it unprepared (bad idea, I know).

I'm just a bit worried about my retake score after going through that experience the 1st time. I'm just concerned as to whether or not I'm too late for this cycle as far as secondaries go.

Honestly I won't be able to finish them until the end of next week or so with this post bac program (already swamped with so much info and am behind b/c of the MCAT). I rather not submit secondaries to schools that heavily weigh the MCAT (like the Midwesterns) if I don't have to. So would waiting till Oct 11, a matter of an extra 10 or so days, really make a huge difference?

It really depends on what you get on your MCAT, your current GPA, and your ec's. If you have solid GPA and EC's and land a 28+ MCAT it is def worth applying this cycle. Especially to the program you have linkage with.

Honestly, if you don't feel confident in this cycle. Just apply next cycle, work a bunch and make some $$ and go out and have a fun time. Enjoying another year of your 20's IS a good thing and rushing these apps is a BAD thing. Just my opinion.
