I know most people are hearing back their decisions about summer internship positions. I have been dealing with a lot of personal and academic problems this semester and as such didn't have to time to apply to most of them. Im a junior at a four year university with a crappy GPA of 2.85 due to depression and family issues. Im not looking for sympathy or anything, but I want realistic opinions on landing these internships - 1) I want to know if its too late for them to consider me. 2) My level competitiveness.
Im interested in applying to Merck. There are a few internships that still have one - two spots open. I know im cutting it very close, but when I look at the requirements they mention anything about GPA though they do mention they prefer candidates with extensive research experience. I have a lot of research experience under my belt but I am curious if anyone knows how Merck actually works and if I am still eligible to apply there since their website is pretty confusing about it ...
