Is it too late to apply to podiatry school? I recently came to the conclusion that I want to go into healthcare and that podiatry would probably be the best fit for me. Is it too late to apply to podiatry school for fall 2012? Would I be at a disadvantage applying the second week of September like I would if I applied to medical school?

How did you decide Podiatry is right for you? Have you spent any time shadowing a local Pod?
I shadowed a pod a while ago. It was part of an experience I had with being able to shadow any doctor I wanted to in a certain hospital. I was able to shadow a neurosurgeon, an oncologist, a podiatrist and a psychiatrist in a course of about 2 months. Pods I figured were the only ones who practiced both as surgeons and physicians which is why I wanted to take a shot at it. I absolutely hate my current job and think healthcare is the best way for me to go.

Seems like you are definitely on the right path to doing a job that will make you excited about going to work daily! 🙂 It is not too late to apply... In fact a lot of people in my class, like myself, waited until like February-Mayish for one reason or the other. The only downfall to applying around that time is the lack of scholarship money that will be available. Since you are planning on applying in September, that is still very early in the cycle.
