Too late to email profs?

So I just learned about an awesome Ph.D. program that somehow slipped under my radar. I think I'm going to go ahead and apply - the deadline is Dec. 15.

Do you think it's way too late to be emailing the professor I'm interested in working with? Will this just look irresponsible? I don't really want her to know that I just decided to apply.

Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated!

It's still a month away. I think you are more than fine. Some professors may not even know yet, so it's not like you are behind.
