Hello,

I applied and was verified by 11/28/2019. I received 9 secondaries within a week but due to work, I was only able to submit 3 of them within 3 weeks. I am current working on the rest but I wanted to know I still have have a chance or if I would be wasting my time.

Not sure of this helps but I am a non-trad student with low undergraduate GPA, but a good post-bacc GPA (3.5 over 30 credits upper level sciences).

Also, my work history is solid and shows long-term commitment. (Job includes over 4,000 hours of scribing in an ER).

One of my doctors got into OU-HCOM applying late. In January. It’s January. Send yours out asap, you’ll get interviews if app’s strong enough

If you submit them now and get IIs (most likely in March/April), you probably will be competing for the last few opening slots (consensus is that Adcoms get quite picky at this time, also MD applicants without any MD II's will also be submitting their DO apps as backup, so they will be your competition instead of lower stat applicants like myself 😀).

OP, this is my thinking exactly

So it'll be tough but not impossible, right?

I understand that my grades may not be the best, but I really think that my experiences (job and volunteering) and LOR are great which is why I feel like I stand a chance this cycle.

Is this reasoning valid or would you say that GPA and MCAT outweigh all else at this time?

There are also the issues of judgement, priorities and time management.
Put together a great, on-time application.

Meaning that I should finish the secondaries I have promptly and correctly, and avoid applying to additional school. Correct?

I'll defer to @Goro on whether it is too late for DO secondaries. It will probably vary by school somewhat.

Do you have DO shadowing experience? LOR form a DO?

but I really think that my experiences (job and volunteering) and LOR are great which is why I feel like I stand a chance this cycle.
This is an example of magic thinking. Don't do it.

What's your MCAT score?

I have multiple DO letters and my scribing job requires that I go into the rooms with the physicians as well as discussing the care plan and purpose of performing, or forgoing, certain diagnostic tests.

My mcat is 504.

Apply broadly NOW.
Great. I'll finish all my secondaries and submit them ASAP.

Also, do you have any school recommendation for my circumstances at this point? I heard a new NOVA opened up but I wasn't sure if my stats were good enough.

Well, if you went through the trouble of submitting a primary you may as well see it through. Some DO schools do give interviews but MDs are likely all dried up at this point. Your chance of getting in is ZERO if you don't.

If you need to go around again don't submit late. And if you do submit late maybe look up what secondaries want so you can get them back really fast.

If I were you, I'd wait for next cycle. You want to present the best application you possibly can. Sure, you might have a shot now, but your chances are much better if you apply next cycle (which opens in just 4 months!). Remember that possible is not the same (or even close to the same) as likely. The money you spent already is sunk-cost, and waiting one more year means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Plus if you try to rush them in now, you risk compromising the quality of your secondaries. Instead, I suggest pre-writing secondaries now, polishing up your primary app (personal, ECs, LORs), and submitting early.

Question to anyone: if you submit your primary to a school but not secondary, are you still considered a re-applicant to that school?

It depends on your undergrad GPA as well. You said its low, how low?
