Hello all I am looking for some advice. I have retaken a few of the prereq classes in order to have a shot a PT school. I don't have any C's on my prereq anymore but instead have a few B's and it kind of kills my prereq GPA. Here are the list of classes.

Anatomy A- (B- before my retake)
Physiology A
Biology 1 B (C+ before retake)
Gen Chem 1 B
Gen Chem 2 B+ (F before retake)
Physics 1 B+
Physics 2 B-

This puts me at about a 3.3 pGPA (depending on the school)
This is also my 2nd cycle that I will be applying. First cycle I applied 3 places and had 2 interviews (One of them didn't do interviews). I wasn't accepted partially because of my GRE (152V 152Q 3AW) and I kind of bombed the interviews. I plan to retake the GRE and I'm also working on my interview skills.

All in all I'm just curious. Should I retake a few of my classes also? If I were to get an A in Physics 2 and Chem 1 it would put me at roughly 3.6 which is much more competitive then what I have now. When I was applying the first time I was in the midst of retaking Bio in which I had C+ on the transcript. I also thoroughly researched my schools and applied to ones that would take replacement.

I would prioritize GRE writing score first, then retake Chem and physics. (You NEED As!). I think it would be worth it. But be careful because if you are applying this cycle remember you have to complete the classes before you apply or the schools won't see them.

What is the ideal GRE score we should be shooting for?
I'd say if your gre score is high enough it should compensate for any GPA deficits (if you can't retake the b's). Also try to get your resume, essays, and letters of rec really good to help out also. Other than that, your plan to improve your interview skills sound like a great plan! Best of luck to you!

sounds to me like you need to work on your GRE and interview skills first and foremost. Then the only class I would retake is the B-. If you got interviews with that GPA, you will most likely get them again. A lot of schools use GPA as a app weed-out. If you have good volunteer hours, strong LORs and a great essay, you won't get thrown out for a 3.3 GPA. Hell, I have known 3.9 GPAers who got denied. I personally wouldn't waste my time to retake every B.

There's no point in retaking a class for a third time, since even schools that take the highest repeat usually average classes that were taken three times. If anything, I would retake the B-, and then the B in Chemistry...only if you really wanted to.

I don't think retaking a B+ would really make too much of a difference.

And work a little on the GRE and make sure you are thoroughly prepared for interviews... as stated above.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the advice. Yea I think the GRE writing section deserves the most attention since it is probably the weakest part of my application.

You need to get a 4 on the writing section. Get on the ets website and randomly pick essays and time yourself writing them so you can feel comfortable with it and get a sense of how to properly write each type of essay.
