Okay, I know this seems like a strange thing to ask/consider since many people wish for just one interview and I know how lucky I am to have had six invitations so far. Barry, Temple, Kent, DMU, Scholl and CSPM have all invited me so far. I live in Florida so definitely going to Barry, already have my plane/hotel for Kent and DMU so going to those. But for the other schools I'm torn on which ones to go to and which ones to not in order to save money. I have already ruled out CSPM because I don't want to move to Cali if I can stay on the east coast. Between Temple and Scholl I want to go to at least one, but not sure which one to go to and which one to not. And I still haven't heard from NYCPM yet. I would love to go to all of these but it wouldn't be financially responsible to. Any insight on if I should just go to the three I already have planned and not the other three? Or maybe go to either Temple or Scholl? I think if I go to just the three I have already planned I should get into AT LEAST one of them…right?

I think out of those three you have scheduled you're good for Kent and Barry. DMU will probably result in being waitlisted, the class is almost full (if not full).

Is there anyway you can combine the DMU and Scholl into one trip, Des Moines is about a 6 hour ride from chicago and could probably get greyhound tickets for under 100 R/T. Also for NYCPM look into Amtrak, again not the most glamourous but they will get you there. NYCPM puts you up in a hotel the night before. If you are interested in Temple too I would try to interview at NYCPM on Thu and then temple on the Monday, there are plenty of cheap hostels in NY and Philly that a whole weekend there would not be that expensive.

Without even touching the number of interviews you are planning, I'll just add that once you start interviewing you are beginning a countdown. Acceptances will likely come within roughly a week of interviewing with a deposit required in 1 month.

1. Yeah I definitely agree with the above.

2. If you get an invite from NYCPM, you can also schedule with Temple on consecutive days. For clarification, I'm actually planning to interview Temple on Monday, and then go to NYCPM the next day. Amtrak goes Philly -> NY in 1.5 hours and it'll only cost you about $35. As an added bonus, both schools give you free hotel.

3. It is really cold in Chicago. No joke. I haven't lived anywhere colder than NY and I'm legit worried about that when I interview at Scholl. :scared:

4. Why would you want to go to Kent? It's in freaking Ohio. *sarcasm* Actually, I have to admit I decided not to interview at Kent since I couldn't imagine living in Cleveland. No wonder Lebron left for South Beach.

if you're concerned about money, take bolt bus from temple to NY; it's only like $10-13.

i also got invited to many interviews (9) but decided to just attend two. i wasn't interested in spending thousands of dollars traveling around the country when for me, it basically came down to location. however, each school has important considerations, like scholarships, clinics, research, etc., that you should weigh according to your needs.

Yeah, honestly my preference would be between those three anyway. The podiatrists I have been shadowing went to Barry and all have said it is actually a good school contrary to popular belief. Plus it is only 2.5 hours away from home. But I have heard that Kent and DMU have great facilities that I really want to tour. I think I will settle for those three, as long as I don't bomb them I will hopefully get into my first choice!
