So after practicing a bunch of times using the PAT generators, I decided to do my first actual practice exam. Sadly enough I got a 17. My DAT is in less than 3 weeks.. how can I improve? Should I be doing hours of practice each day?

I don't think multiple hours is necessary, just make sure you're consistently practicing it each day. Is your issue trouble with certain sections, or are you running out of time?

I'm weak at angle ranking and pattern folding. On the generators I average 10-12/15 when I time myself excluding pattern folding since I feel weakest there and try to go slow instead to figure out a strategy. It was definitely surprising getting the poor results on the first actual practice exam. I guess I felt stressed on time?

This was my PAT strategy: I could not figure out angle rankings throughout my practice tests. So, I would practice them when I could and then just decided that it was more beneficial to go with my gut feeling on the angle rankings so that I saved time for the other sections. Obviously I don't know how I did specifically on angle rankings but I got a 22PAT score on my real DAT so it worked for me.

Angle ranking can be really frustrating, but will improve over time. Pattern folding was one of the more difficult sections for me starting out, but at some point it kind of clicks when you've done enough of them and you get a feel for what to look for to easily eliminate incorrect answer choices (I usually tried to eliminate incorrect answer choices in pattern folding, rather than try to fold it in my head since it was too time consuming).

i would suggest practicing the bootcamp generators as much as possible. Also, imo the bootcamp PAT exams were super hard but made the real thing a breeze. I would do all of their pat practice exams. if you need more practice, i suggest CrackDAT PAT royal flush with 10 practice exams. the more practice exams the better.
