Hi all,

So, I took Kaplan over the summer and studied for about 4 months solid. I took all of the AAMC practice tests and 6 Kaplan tests. The PS scores on most of my practice tests were from 8-10. On VR, the scores ranged from 7-9. In Biology, my practice scores ranged from 9-11. I am a Biology major with a philosophy minor, yet my two lowest sections were BS and VR.

Basically, I plan to retake the MCAT, but what are some good ways to improve my BS and VR? Kaplan did not seem to help, and I used EK. Is EK 101 for VR effective? Is there a method to approaching the BS? The MCAT I took seemed to be all experimental-type questions and passages, which I couldn't read within the given time frame.

Thanks!!

EK 101 is the best source other than AAMC FLs.

Do a lot of practice exams and questions. Get EK 1001 Bio and if you can TPR science review workout. Get as many FLs as you can. Practice. Read. Practice.

Don't take the exam until your practice exams (AAMC) are scoring where you want to score.

The EK 101 Verbal Passages is definitely great practice. I would also recommend giving the EK verbal strategy a try too. I switched to it after not doing so well on the verbal section my first time and it raised my verbal score from a 7 to a 10. As for the science sections, all I can say is study study study. Learn the material inside and out and do as many practice passages and problems as possible. And after you take your practice tests make sure to go over them thoroughly and see exactly what is giving you problems. Just keep your head up and stick with it.

It sounds like, except for Bio, your scores are right around your practice scores, so we know it's not a test anxiety thing. What was your diagnostic? Did it improve at all?
1) If you are not happy with your score, you can retake the kaplan class.
2) Go over your practice tests and figure out what concepts you're missing the most points on.
3)Set aside MCAT time every day.
