a friend of mine will be starting her neurology residency this year and i wanted to buy her a bag to carry all her stuff (reflex hammer, opthalmoscope, etc) in. where did you guys buy your handbags, etc from? any particular store, website? or did you just buy whatever you saw in a random store? i really need help asap!

I don't know about bags, I personally don't use one. However, you should consider purchasing the ultimate neurology fashion accessory: a high-quality reflex hammer. There are dozens of varieties. As a recent med school grad, she is probably using a 3-dollar taylor hammer. Very uncool.

The best selection on the web is at:

(Note: I have no personal or financial connection to this site)

Many neurology programs give their incoming residents a personalized neuro bag on their arrival. Neurologists love their tools. My bag has the following:
Welch-Allyn halogen penlight
Tromner reflex hammer
Welch-Allyn panoptic ophthalmoscope
128 Tuning Fork (not a 256)
Otoscope attachment
tongue blades
cotton swab sticks
safety pins

Good luck.
