Hey guys,

I am about a month out from my test date and have been mostly concentrating on doing AAMC full lengths as well as Kaplan section tests at this point. In my post-test review I have found that the vast majority of questions I miss come from organic in BS! Today for instance, I took a BS section test (which are generally regarded to be very difficult) and the ONLY questions I got wrong were from both the organic passages. I know there has been less organic and less organic on recent exams, but my BS score is being brought down tremendously by missing basically all of those quesitons.

So my question is if anyone has any suggestions fo resources I can use for some review? I actually did the best in organic chemistry out of all the pre-reqs (but I did take it over a year ago.) While I used TBR for chemistry and physics, I only used EK for organic. I used Chad's videos to get the basics down but I really feel like the majority of my issues are coming from not being used to the experimental passages typical of the MCAT (synthesis of an unknown molecule). Would it be worth it to buy a used TBR book for organic passages at this point? Or does anyone know of another good resource for organic passages is?

also: I am interested to hear if anyone has used freelance teacher's videos for organic to study for the mcat? They really helped me while I was taking the class but I feel as if it might be overkill for the mcat

I'm in the "failing organic portion of BS" camp. I'm about to embark on a 3 day TBR organic journey. I'll tell you how my practice scores improve afterward (if at all..)

honestly all I learned in my o chem classes were (reactant + reactant 2 ----> Product)

If I am given 2 of those, I can solve the missing one. I seriously know nothing about how nucleophiles work etc etc... and I have gotten like 1-2 questions wrong tops on all my AAMC FL's so far. I also pulled A's in O-chem like this, my friends were confused becaues they spent so much time on the theory. I truly feel like if you know the major reactions (ketones, alkenes etc) then everything becomes easy

It might take you more than 3 days to do the whole TBR organic. However, it is a great resource for people like me who are weak in organic.

Thanks for the input everyone! I think I am going to try to get a hold of TBR organic even though I am in a time crunch. If I can even score the set I'll probably only have time for the passages.

I think it might be too indepth but in the meantime I think I may reread the 2nd language books since they really helped me with the course in UG.

Khan academy! When I began my practice tests I did badly on the orgo too, I have a very weak chem background. I've been using KhanAcademy.org and now I get most all orgo correct.
I take notes while he talks so I am sure to pay attention.

I tried reading through TBR organic, it focuses way too much on the basic theories for me when all I really need right now is more general knowledge that really needs to be memorized more than anything. So I switched to EK. Much more succinct, and a much easier read in general. Also the flash cards provided seem very good.

Repetition , repetition , repetition. It's what worked for me (14 on BS)
