Anyone know if the registration fee for USMLE (like 600 bucks or so) is tax deductible?

No it's not. You can't deduct costs related to meeting the minimum qualifications for a job, or that qualify you for a new job.

The most important thing you can learn about deductions is that most don't matter if you don't have enough to itemize. For example, owning a home when you take the standard deduction each year doesn't confer any tax benefits on you.
