thanks for posting the US news ranking. I am not sure though, how this ranking translates into fellowship raking.
For example, Fox Chase is a very good clinical training program, but they barely do have any basic research opportunities, thus it is not the most academic program. Yet, in this ranking it is much higher then U PENN, which has the Abramson Cancer Center and a very strong basic research faculty. U Penn certainly would prepare one much better for academia then Fox Chase.
These rankings are mainly done for patients. But thanks again anyway.
Any other input?

IMHO:

1. MD Anderson
2. Memorial Sloan-Kettering/Cornell
3. Fred Hutchinson/UW
4. Dana Farber/Harvard
5. Hopkins

I can say that I am not a big fan of the USNews and World report Rankings for many things, including the rankings of cancer centers.... which somehow has translated into taking these scores and equating them with the quality of a heme/onc fellowship....and other fellowships as well.

I think also that in evaluting the programs, you should take into account that some programs are much better at certain aspects of Heme/Onc.... for instance, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is regarded as the best Bone Marrow Transplant Center .... based on faculty expertise as well as volume of procedures, etc. Also, there is a feeling that places like MDAnderson, Hopkins and Sloan Kettering are better places for someone who wants to gain expertise in solid malignancies since many large clinical trials come from these places. The same can be said for hematologic malignancies.

Hi, you seem to know quite something about the Hem/Onc scene in the US.
Thanks for posting.
Certainly Seattle is one of the BMT centers, after all Storb is there...
I am mainly interested in Lymphoma. Is there any website or publication with a more thorough overview on at least the bigger programs.
Obviously, the top 4 or so are all exceptional, just don't know whether I will get in. After all, I am an IMG, and that seems to matter even for fellowship placement.
So I am mainly interested in other strong programs in the Northeast as alternatives.
Any input?

If you are interested in a private practice, does it matter where you get trained at? As long as it is a decent, well-rounded fellowship program, you should be fine getting a good job. What do you guys think?
