Hello, I am thinking about applying to Caribbean medical schools. I have just started researching the schools, and I understand there are several. I was wondering which were the top schools there. Is there a site where I can find really useful information about the schools? Also, do they have application deadlines? Thanks.

I dont know if this post belongs here, but I've been reading for hours here, and one question keeps popping up in my head. What is the disadvantage of going to a med school in the carribeans? Maybe from my prospective its not that bad because I went to a solid college in the states, Rhodes College in Memphis, did decent on my MCAT (25) and an alright gpa, 3.4. I just want to be a doctor to help in underserved areas in my home state of Mississippi. I honestly think going to a school in the carribean is not that bad, so what if there isnt much of a social life, your supposed to be studying anyway! So I guess the question is, if I were an FMG, would getting residency in the states be hard? Let me know guys, it boggles my mind why people with lower mcat scores wouldnt consider this an option and decide to wait a year instead.

there is not "top" for offshore schools. you need to figure our what suits your needs; first consider the pass rates of a school and the % of any given class who makes it to the boards with their class (ie dont decel/fail/drop out). Look at which states you can get licensed in from a given school. Look at where people do residencies from a school and in what field. some places will place you in competitive spots (if you want them) better than others. finally, after this,k then you look at cost, lifestyle, etc. For some who want FP in a winde open state, you have mroe freedoms. its not that competitive to get into. for someone wanting texas, youre best bet are the few schools texas-eligiible (though those from other schools may be considered on a case-by-case basis). its complext and you must study this all up front before you are well into the game with your hands tied. best.
