Hey guys.

It would be nice for the rookies, if we share our TopScore scores and the actual DAT scores to show if there is a correlation.

For Example:

My sciences (TS) were 16's - TopScore (20's - Actual)
My PAT - 20 - TopScore (20 - Actual)
RC/QR - 17/18 - Topscore (19/20 - Actual)

Anyhow, if you think your scores didnt improve when you took the Actual DAT - please post them too.

Thanks

The sciences are a lot similar to topscore. Math is just like topscore. A few of my QR questions on the actuall test were the same as topscore. Don't trust what u get on Topscore's PAT and English though.

Hey there,

I've only heard of Kaplan for studying for the DAT?? What is Topscore and how do I find information about them? Are there other resourced out there for DAT prep? Thanks!!

Topscore is a CD that has three full practice exams on it, check out this website: www.scholarware.com

Yeah that PAT is really hard on the real test. I just deduced the angles on TS, but all the angles look the same size on the DAT. I didnt believe it until I was taking it.

my own experience w/ topscore:

Sciences- was getting around 15 on topscore, ended up with TS 19. I thought some of the topscore questions were too nitpicky, for example I remember being asked specific questions on classification that just weren't representative of the real thing, IMO

Reading - about the same as the real thing. I got around 20 on topscore tests, and 23 on the real thing

PAT - way easier than the real thing. I suggest looking elsewhere for more realistic practice

Quant - harder than the real thing. If you can handle topscore QR, you're ready for the real thing

Topscore: Bio 19, GChem 14, Orgo 13, Reading 25, Math 16, PAT 17.
Actual: Bio 19, Gchem 23, Orgo 20, Reading 25, Math 17, PAT 17.
Just took it today ;)

I am scheduled to take the real DAT August 8. This is what Topscore Test 1 gave me:

Test Number Test Section Time Taken Percent Correct Standard Score Correct Incorrect
1 Biology 2014-08-01 11:22 PM 60.00% 16 24 16
1 Chemistry 2014-08-01 11:22 PM 73.33% 18 22 8
1 Organic Chemistry 2014-08-01 11:22 PM 36.67% 13 11 19
1 Total Science 2014-08-01 11:22 PM 57.00% 16 57 43
1 Perceptual Ability 2014-08-01 11:22 PM 65.56% 18 59 31
1 Reading Comprehension 2014-08-01 11:22 PM 92.00% 25 46 4
1 Quantitative Reasoning 2014-08-01 11:22 PM 72.50% 20 29 11
1 Academic Average 2014-08-01 11:22 PM 69.47% 18 132 58

Any tips?

I personally didn't find Topscore representative of the real test. However, Bootcamp helped me immensely!

On my last top score test, I scored a 19TS, on the real thing I scored a 20. I think it's pretty close, but there were too many calculation problems. My actual exam had several theoretical problems and only a handful of problems with calculations and they were simple ones.
