Hello all,
This is my first time posting on the forum as I just joined about a month ago. Long story short is that I'm scheduled to apply to PT school this upcoming cycle as I'm entering my senior year. However, I still need my last two prereqs in Physics I and II which I'm currently taking during the summer sessions. I didn't do so great on the first test (class average was a D) so I'm considering skipping applying this year as I wouldn't be able to drop it and take both Physics in time for matriculation if I got into PT school due to my current course load. My question is should I take the chance and continue to press on in hopes for a B or cut my losses and take them at community college after I graduate? Delaying applying would also allow me to retake Chem II and Statistics which I got C's in.

Current Stats:
CumGpa: 3.45
Current Pre-req GPA: 3.4
GRE: TBD (Taking in July)
Observation hours: 100+ inpatient rehab, currently observing outpatient pediatrics and sports rehab.

Professors don't usually recommend taking physics during the summer sessions, especially if you've never been exposed to the material before and the methods used to solve physics problems. I would definitely consider re-taking chem II and statistics as they are pre-requisites for many PT programs. Know the deadline for when withdrawing from the class is no longer possible. I remember my physics professor recommended the students who didn't score 50+ to drop his course, but everyone is different. You'll know by the second test for sure if it's even realistically possible to get a B or not.

I'm kinda crazy....i would go in ASAP and talk to the instructor and eat some humble pie on that one. Then I would hire a tutor and start throwing crazy hours into that class. Even if you pay a good bit of money for the tutor, I think you will still realize significant savings if you can apply and attend a school a full year earlier. Think of this class and proving that you can do the high academic load in that first year of DPT school. Study like you never have before and make it count.

I've seen people on this forum get in with worse stats than you and a killer GRE might make up for other things. Although it would be great if you could retake Chem and stats because like mn977 said those are pre-requisite for a lot of programs. But I understand your dilemma because if you don't apply this cycle then it's a whole year before you can apply again....
Have you thought of looking at schools that are not with PTCAS? I don't know where you live but Uni. of St Augustine which has campuses in Texas, Fl and CA has a trimester thing going on. Basically they accept applicants 3 times a year. That might be something you could look at.
