Applying for the 16/17 cycle and sort of confused about the hours verification form.

Is it just for hours done shadowing an OT? Can I add other volunteer work like a hospital internship and Special Olympics?

Anyone able to get through to admissions or have past experience with this, I would appreciate your feedback.

I applied to Touro last year and had to fill out the same form. So the hours verification form is specifically for working or volunteering in an OT clinical setting with an OT. I also did volunteer work with the Special Olympics but I added that on the OTCAS "Experiences" section. For the hospital internship, unless it was specifically OT, it would go under "Experiences" as well. Hope this helps!

The application process for Touro wasn't too bad. I just submitted everything through OTCAS then received an invitation to submit a supplemental application. I honestly can't remember if they asked anything specific (sorry!)
I did interview there and was accepted. I ultimately decided to go somewhere else that was a better fit for me.

Hi RUNNING_OT, do you remember if you put all of your OT volunteer experiences on one form? Because there is only one line for one supervising OT to sign, and I have 3 different settings.

Just had a question about the application. Do you just apply through OTCAS first. Also, what is asked for in the supplemental material.

From what I understand it's apply through OTCAS first, then wait for them to invite you to complete the supplemental part, which is the hours form, technical standards form, and application fee. The directions are on the program site. I have only submitted via OTCAS and am awaiting the invite so I don't know what else they may ask for as part of the supplemental material.

If I remember correctly maybe around 2-3 weeks.

Ok, thanks! It's been 2 weeks for me.

But again, it always depends on how many people they have reading personal statements and how many they have received. I sent mine about halfway before the due date so many people had already sent their stuff in.

Yes, they do. I called and asked the same question and they will still consider your app even if you are still completing the prerequisites. 🙂

I applied really early - late August. I declined the interview but didn't ask for other dates. I am coordinating with my spouse so trying to hear back from places before January (long story but basically my spouse is applying for medical residency and they do their match in December). I assumed that they don't have any earlier dates available so I declined without asking for other dates.

I applied the same time you did also... And all I got was the email that they received everything and within two weeks I should receive an answer... I got that email first week of September and haven't heard anything back haha... Now its November!
