Hi gmohamma,

Congratulations on your Touro acceptance! I will be sending my deposit to Touro within the next couple of days and am very excited about pharmacy school!

Is Touro your #1 choice or will you consider some of the other schools in CA you applied to? I applied to a lot of schools and am waiting to hear back from almost all of them. I wish I could know if I'll get accepted to any others right now so I'll know at least what state I'll be living in next year. I'm from NJ and most schools I applied to are a plane ride away!

Stephie

P.S. I would love to meet a new roommate also but I'll probably get an aparment with my boyfriend. What a guy to move all that way just so I can go to school! 😍

For those people who had interviewed with Touro- how did you guys like the area and the school location itself???

The only things on Mare Island right now are the Touro buildings and a golf course. There is construction everywhere so in a few years everything will probably look very different but right now there are a lot of abandoned buildings (the island used to house a naval base). Mare isalnd is near a lot of cool places though- right in the middle of everthing- San Francisco (30-40 min away), Berkley, etc. I didn't feel unsafe on the island at all.

Haha that is really super nice of him, stephie. Touro is one of my top choices, because it's in california so I wont have to move THAT far away from home. I think the only way I wouldnt go there is if I get into USC or UCSF (which would be a miracle). Yeah, I'm going home this weekend to send my deposit too! Good luck with other schools!! I kind of dropped all my other supplemental applications. I'm trying to decide whether or not to mail my NOVA supplemental because they "want to interview" me according to an email they sent. It's in florida, that scares me.. hurricanes and such.

I think mare island also has a slew of new homes and other things. I'm kind of excited about the promenade they are building and the ferry etc. Even though vallejo itself is kind of "eh" , there's all this stuff to do in the surrounding area so we are going to have fun!! Plus, i guess it's a good thing that vallejo doesnt have much happening because I really want to focus in pharm school and do well.

anyway, good luck with the deposit, i hope to see you soon!!

Hi,

I just mailed TOURO application on Wed this week and don't know when they will call me. How long did it take them to process your application and invite you for an interview? How long after the interview that they let you know your acceptance status? Thanks for all your responses.

Congratulation!!! I wish I'm in your position right now. I haven't heard from any other CA yet. The wait is torturing me. I'm sure I'll start to get grey hair soon 🙁

lol dont worry janet, i have plenty of gray hairs from all that stress. i know what you're going through. I think i submitted my app in august, and they got back to me in mid-september for an interview on Nov 4th. I'm not sure how long it will take them to get back to you, but it may be sooner. I remember that two weeks after i sent my app, they sent me a card saying i needed to turn in my letters of rec and transcripts. once i did that, they sent me an invite a few weeks after.

dont worry! you will hear from schools eventually... there's really no point in worrying (easier said than done) because you've done all you can!!

i wish you all the best. 🙂

Hi hmohamma,

Thanks for the info. It sure feels much better knowing someone else share the same experience. I wish I knew about this SDN web site much sooner. I didn't know about this site untill 4 days ago 🙁 All the posts here are so informative. Reading all the acceptance news gave me a lot of motivation to not feel SAD. THanks again everyone.

Hi henitz9,

Wow- another person from TCNJ! I graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor's in Music Education- GPA 3.5. I just took the PCAT in October, so still waiting for that score.

Where else did you apply? There aren't many schools in our area that seriosly consider transfer students so I've had to apply to lots of out of state schools.

Good Luck with everything!

Stephie

Hi Stephie,

You mentioned that you graduated in 1999, which was quite a while ago...Did you work or still taking class from 1999-Present? Did TOURO ask about why you waited so long?

As for me, I graduated from UCSD in 1998, and work ever since. Although I worked, I always have plan to go back to school, just didn't know what , untill about 3 years ago, when I know that I like pharmacy. So here I am, applying.

Any tip for me since I've been out of school for so long. Thanks

Janet

Hi Janet,

After graduation I went to grad school for a couple of years and then to work as a teacher for a few years. I'm taking night classes while working full time to fulfill my prereq's right now. Touro didn't ask me why I waited so long, but it was an open file interview so I think they knew my history going into it. I think having some work experience will set you apart and make you appealing to the interviewers!

Do you have any classes left to take? Good Luck with your applications!

Hi Stephie,

Thanks for sharing with me your life experience. I thought I'm the only "older" applicant who decided to go back to school. It feels better knowing someone else have the same determination 🙂 .

Well, I'm planning on taking Anatomy, Phyisiology, and Econ (Micro) this Spring. That is if I get into schools that required those class. It's sad that up to now, I still don't know what my status with all the school that I sent my appl already. So basically, I'm taking all the above classes just so if the school reply later, I don't have to cramp everything this summer. I thought I was done, but apparently not. I didn't want to take any class in the Fall becuz I wanted to focus on PCAT. Still have no idea how I did on that either. The waiting is killing me.

How many schools did you apply total? Where?

Hi,

I'm glad to talk with another nontraditional pharmD hopeful! Are you applying for Fall 2006 admission? I don't have any idea how I did on the PCAT either and am very anxious to find out.

I applied to about 15 schools. Originally I had planned on 20 but I had to cut a few because they wouldn't allow any summer classes the summer before starting.

I haven't heard from most of the schools I applied to either, so don't worry! They are probably waiting to get our PCAT scores.

Hi Stephie,

Yes, I'm applying for the Fall 06. So far, I applied to about 13. I wish I applied to Touro EARLIER because I probably have a higher chance. I just turned in the app last week. So, it'll probably be a while untill I hear something. But I'm determined I WILL get in. I'm very excited when thinking about Pharmacy school (although I haven't heard from any school yet).

Ideally, I would love to stay and study in CA. But if I must, I don't mind moving far away since my ultimate goal is TO BE a pharmacist. Four years shouldn't be too bad when you're investing for the entire future right?

Thank you... waiting game is finally over!!!

Thank God. There is at least one school that wants me. Hello my potential future classmates 😀

thank you. I really thought I screwed up during the essay portion of the interview tho.

Did anyone recently submit his/her app to Touro? Or how long did it take to get an interview invite after mailing? Just wanted to know. A lot of the people who contribute to this thread were the early bird people.

I just want to say congratulations to everyone who got into Touro. I know we all worked hard for it, and now its time to relax and have a WONDERFUL HOLIDAY. I wish you guys the best on this coming year, and see EVERYONE in the FALL.

P.S I am looking for roomates too. 🙂

I also graduated from UCSD in 1998. I attended Warren. What's yours? I also send my appl. to Touro on the third week of November. I got the post card last week saying that my application is completed.
Now I am waiting and waiting....hopefully granted an interview.

Hi rivatnt,

I sent my Touro applicaiton on Nov 16 and just got an invitation from them today (invitation dated 12/8). I called to schedule the interview and the earliest date they have is March 3rd. I know it's in 2 months, but I'm happy. 🙂

Rivatnt, when did you send yours?

Has anyone else got an invitation for an earlier date?

I'm sooo worried now. My application is completed in Dec 27. I'm afraid that all the seat would be filled up before they review my application.
Janbran: how long does it take to get response from them?

I dont' have the degree either. My GPA was 3.9 when I sent them my transcript (it's 3.8 now). I dont' have much pharm experience (2 months as pharm tech).

You sent in your application in Sep and got no response??? Did you contact them to ask why?

Did anyone else get an invite to interview for Touro? If so, when is your interview? Is the earliest one really March? I wonder how many more interviews they will be doing. Anyone know if they will do anymore interviews other than the one day in March?

I'm asking b/c I met someone who applied to Touro last year around early Jan. and she got a letter saying that their seats are full. But that was last year when they were only accepting 60 ppl. I don't know about this year... Anyone have a clue?

I sent my completed application on Nov 16, got a confirmation card dated 11/23, got an email stated that it was completed on 12/1 and got an interview letter dated 12/8. I didn't receive the invitation letter until 12/20 and called right away to schedule. At the time, the earliest interview they have is 3/3. A few day later, I was lucky enough to change my interview to an earlier date 3/3 --> 1/20, which is next Frid ( I guess there was a cancellation for 1/20).

Lonewolf: just make sure you follow up with them to make sure they received everything. That would help expedite the process. Good luck

I emailed Ms. Lee and get her reply after 2 weeks. Now my application is completed. She said that the decision could be anytime from now to the end of April. I'm afraid there's no more seat...

i went through the interview process w/ touro last year so i thought i could provide some info.

i completed my app in nov., got an interview offer 3 weeks later, interviewed on mar. 4. this was the 2nd to the last interview session from what i recall. i got a decision letter about 1 week later (as they promised at the interview). i did not get an offer but was put on the HIGH ALTERNATE list. from what i heard the list never moved so no one was eventually offered from the list.

i had a bad feeling after the interview only because i did not hit it off w/ dr. goldsmith, one of 2 panel members & who is also the asst. dean (yeah, i guess you have to at least woo the asst. dean if you want a seat, right?!). he was a little confrontational, i thought, if he didn't like your answers, & he didn't like mine.

but, anyways, no biggie. i got into uop this year & have an interview this sat. at usc. so no hard feelings, dr. goldsmith & touro.

any more questions? i'll try to help...

Hey lonewolf,

Yes, I have a BS in Biology. I received a similar email that my application was completed on 12/1, and got an interview letter dated 12/8. Good luck.

But that was last year when they were only accepting 60 ppl. I don't know about this year... Anyone have a clue?[/QUOTE]

I believe this year they are accepting ~85 students. And from what they told us (Nov interview) they will keep interview people as long as they have seats available.i.e.They would interview about 10 people for 1 available seat and if they feel like none of the 10 deserve that seat then they'll set up another interview.

Has anybody ever been accepted to Touro University since December?
Are there any seats left as of now? In my opinion, people who got in interviewed and accepted long time ago like Oct. or Nov. .... I had interview with them Jan. and was put on the waiting list 🙁 Is there anybody who recently got in to Touro??? Please say hi 😀
