So I assume you got the secondary today? If you fill it out properly you were guaranteed an interview last year. I do not see a problem with the fee, it simply weeds out people who are not serious about going to their school.
 
agreed. specially when you gotta pay 2000$ for your admission deposit. whatttt? 2000? that's right!
 
Seriously, in the grand scheme of things $200 is not much. I'm still waiting for the secondary. Revised the essay and its ready to go. Just need the official invite 🙂

Exactly! And like it was said above, (at least for last year) they only give secondaries to those who they will interview and potentially have in the class. Despite the secondary costing $200, it's not a money grab. If you get one, there's a reason! Good luck!

noo noo, i didn't get secondary yett 😳😳😳 i sure hope i do, but not yet.. the 200 just stood out while i was looking at the secondaries of the diff schools yesterday (as compared to the 50s of rest of them), that's all... butt in the long run, i agree with wht u all said, 200 does seem nothingg.... just as long as v all get in!:luck::xf:

Thanks! I'm hoping for the secondary to go out soon. I redid my essay and got a few new LOR's to submit this year.

I've pre-written most of my secondaries according to last years essays and while some were the same a handful were different, so i'm just curious, is the essay the same throughout the years?
 
Received a rejection letter, but its unclear if it was from last years cycle (High Wait list) or this years cycle. :/

it's for last cycle. nothing to worry about!
 
Has anyone heard anything yet? I called last week and they just said they were still reviewing primaries...
 
I am still waiting anxiously for their secondary...as well as Touro NV's

I just got one too. I read that last year if you got a secondary, you got an interview, but I do not see anything about that on this years one. Does that still hold true?

Is that true about the interviews? Does anyone know the specs from last yr (how many interviews vs acceptances)?
 
i just called the admissions office and the lady did say that secondary = interview 🙂
yayyy ive never been to NY! always wanted to 🙂

WOW!...Though, it's kinda good and bad. I've heard they interview a fairly high percentage/number of applicants, which could mean that a lot of those who interview just end up wait listed/rejected.

I don't mean to be pessimistic lol. It's that other schools interview few people, but it comes with a higher likelihood of acceptance. Either way, good look to everyone!

Really?? I received my secondary too but was totally unaware of this...
 
Between the $200 for the secondary, travel expenses for the interview AND potentially, the $3000 due two weeks after an acceptance... its pretty pricey. I wish they went by the AACOMAS deposit guidelines
 
Does anyone know the % of the population that is black in Harlem?
 
Got a secondary too, but my email was weird... It had a basic "Supplemental Application" subject line and no message in the body.. Attached was the PDF of the Secondary.

Did this happen to anyone else?

Any information on % of interviewees getting accepted? If they just interview everyone, then I may not feel as special 😀

Same thing happened with me- probably to everyone else as well. The IT department of my educational institution actually quarantined the email because they thought it was a virus. I had to ask them to manually remove it from quarantine.

Harlem has an interesting history when it comes to demographics. It has gone from a primarily european jewish neighborhood to a mecca of black culture all within the last century.

The most recent changes (the '90s to now) are a bit more complex. Here is a NYT piece describing this shift:

That being said, it is entirely depending on the area of harlem you live in. I live in an area that is predominantly immigrants from africa and the caribbean.

I've said it before and I'll say it again- I love harlem. 🙂

Yep, same thing here. Email with the supplemental app pdf file but no actual text in email.

"Please describe interruptions in your educational time line, if any"

Do you think taking a break between undergrad degree and post-bacc is considered an interruption, or more along the lines of if there was a break during completion of a bachelors (I'm the former).

wait she said "if you get a secondary then you will automatically get an interview"???
 
really? so if we got a secondary, we automatically get an interview call? wheever i try calling them, no one picks up. it doesnt say anything on the application

Are you calling around now? they're probably closed since it's about 6pm in NY.
 
Last year a secondary was the same as an interview. I'm sure they still must read your PS, but last year that's the way it went. Last I year I submitted late and interviewed a few weeks after I submitted the secondary. Probably won't be that quick at the beginning of the cycle.
 
Got a secondary too.....If secondary= interview, when does that get scheduled?
Like everyone has said, there wasn't any info in the body of the email. Do they wait until they receive your secondary before scheduling interviews??
 
They will contact you by email. I received a complete email last year, followed by the interview email a day or so later. However, I applied really late (March), so they were probably getting less applications at that point.
 
Ok, to clarify some things. I applied last year and was high wait-listed, did not end up getting a seat. A secondary DOES equal an interview invite. After your file is complete (secondary turned in), they will email you with information on how to set up an interview. I do not know quite how Touro-NY does it but they have fairly comparable interview/acceptance ratios compared to other schools. Meaning that despite what it seems they do not interview as many people as one thinks. They do not send out secondaries to simply everyone who meets their minimum requirements, and a lot of people who receive secondaries are scared off by the 200 bucks.

For all of you who have received secondaries- congrats!

Word to the wise- get them in ASAP, class will fill up QUICK! I would say that at my acceptance, which was the 2nd week of December, the class was already half-full, and I'm fairly confident that it was full if not 90-95% full by the end of January.
 
I only skimmed the secondary so far, but for the personal statement, do we just type it out on a separate sheet of paper and mail it with the application?
