I'm convinced that both choices B and D have (S) stereocenters. Anyone care to explain to me why I'm incorrect or why I am?

D has an R stereocenter....the methyl group is lowest priority and pointing out of the page so you have to flip it
 
and for the record, i agree that you could make an argument for other spots on the molecule but the test writers are clearly focusing on that one stereocenter and thus don't give us the orientation of the other hydrogens

Wow, thanks. I can't believe I forgot to flip for the methyl group. Before I assigned priorities, I immediately identified the methyl as the lowest and left it at that. It's amazing how I can miss something that simple after looking at it for at least 10 minutes. It's also amazing I went from 40-42-40 to a 31 on my last full-length. FML, lol
