I have a problem: I am not sure if my transcripts are going to get to OTCAS in time. I just sent in my OTCAS application with recommendations on November 30th, and one of my deadlines is January 1st and another is January 15th. My school said my final transcripts may not get there in time because the dealine for grade submission is December 28, so A&P I and Cultural Anthropology might not be on my transcript. (I have yet to take A&P II but I have taken General Biology I and two neuroscience classes.) I am sending my transcripts without A&P I and CA to OTCAS. I want to get into a good school because I want to leave myself the option of doing an OTD.
1. Is there a chance that OTCAS will process my final transcripts with A&P I and CA in time?
2. Will OTCAS process my first transcripts in time if they are in the mail by December 3rd?
3. Do I have a chance at getting in to OT schools if my final transcripts don't get there in time?
I'm starting to think I should have waited a year to apply, and I'm starting to get discouraged. These are my stats:
University: Houghton College
Major: Psychology, Honors Research Concentration
Overall GPA: 3.87
Pre-req GPA: All A's and A-s.
GRE: Verbal: 161, Quantitative: 153, Analytical Writing: 4.5
Extra-curriculars:I have worked as a Resident Counselor in a home for people with developmental disabilities for around 600 hours. I have an internship testing college students for learning disabilities and some psychological disorders. Psi Chi President for one year, Teacher's Assistant, Intro to Psychology tutor and Statistics tutor. Was chair of Student Conduct Committee, which advises the VP of Student Life about conduct cases that students appeal. Cabinet member of Global Christian Fellowship, my school's intercultural studies club. I was part of my school's honors program and as part of it traveled to 6 countries. I also am doing an honors project on PTSD and I have almost 4 years of research experience. I have had one poster presentation and one paper presentation.
Volunteer: Around 95 hours of shadowing and volunteering in areas of hand therapy, early intervention, school-aged children, and adults with developmental disabilities. One of these was for the OT who worked with some of the same adults I do in the group home.
Recommendations: The OT at the organization where I work wrote me a good recommendation, and we have a good relationship. I have 2 others: One from my honors thesis adviser, and one from the professor I TA for. They both told me they will give good recommendations. I know them both very very well. One of them said OT schools would be stupid not to accept me.
Applying to: Columbia University, Ithaca College, Virginia Commonwealth University, Midwestern University Downer's Grove, and Sacred Heart University.
