I'm taking one of my bio classes at another state university (mine does not offer it over the summer) and i was told that only the credits transfer, not the letter grade. Can it still count towards my BCMP gpa? i plan on doing rather well and wanted to know if the letter grade will still count? thanks

The letter grade will count toward your BCMP grade. That's actually a problem I had, because I wasn't really planning on med school when I took some classes at other universities, and just to get the credit transfer I only got Bs in them. All undergrad classes you take anywhere will count in your AMCAS GPA and BCMP GPA.

Yeah, it will. In fact, you must report all letter grades from every school you ever attended. All of them count towards your GPA.

Hi, Whats the difference between the AMCAS GPA and BCMP GPA and your overall GPA?

theres the AMCAS gpa, and then theres just your regular school GPA. Each can be divided into BCPM (science and math classes) and overall (all courses put together). The AMCAS GPA is what med schools see, and is a cumulative GPA of all the college classes you've ever taken after high school (including comm college classes, classes taken at other universities). You can then divide that into the BCPM part, which is science and math classes, and the overall GPA, which is all your classes put together.

AMCAS will request a transcript from all post-secondary schools you have attended. Therefore, the B's will be counted towards your BCPM gpa.

Question:

I once took an english class at a community college during the summer...would I have to account for that on AMCAS too?

Thanks!

Yes. All grades from each and every institution you ever attended (post-secondary) will have to be accounted for.
