how difficult of a process is it? I just enrolled at a new school as a first yr but the distance from family is taking its toll on me and i really want to go home!!! rather than give up and just go home is it possible to transfer and has anyone done this? is it difficult or should i just reapply and pretend this never occurred( dishonest i know, but im thinking it might be easier, since i just got here) PLEASE GIVE ME ADVICE ANYONE WHO CAN

I dont have anything against the school, its just the distance from home, my family, my fear of flying, anxiety attacks....they are taking a toll rather than do poorly bc i want to go home so badly id like to know what my options are having made the decision to come out here.

It is very difficult to transfer, if not impossible. Do everything you can to stay where you are and adjust to this new situation. Speak to an adviser (at student affairs maybe?) and see if the school offers help for people in your situation.
Good luck!

Almost always, you have to start over as a first year. So you lose the year you are currently studying for now. You also won't get the tuition you paid back. Since its still early in the year, before you drive yourself insane studying for exams that will likely not count if you transfer, I would try to get the ball rolling ASAP if you're serious. But my best advice is stick it out. Make friends, get involved. Go home when you can and enjoy the experience as much as you can.

She's right. If you know 100% you want to leave, then speak to someone at the school closer to home and see whether you should drop out or stick it out and try to "transfer" (which really means starting over as a first year). Don't lie and act like it's your first time applying-- someone will find out about it and then you'll be in a really bad situation. Did you live away from home in college? If not, this is your opportunity to test the waters, and if you did, then you're probably mature enough to come to terms with the fact that your best option is to stay where you are. Whatever you decide to do, good luck!
