For those who pursued their bachelors starting out at a County College (2yr) then proceeded to a 4yr university how difficult was the transition. Were the classes especially harder? Not talking upper level classes but General Sciences. Example: I did really well in Gen Bio and Gen Chem at the CC - are these classes tougher or more rigorous at a 4yr school?

Generally the answer you are going to get is that yes, at a 4 year university it is a tad bit more rigorous than a CC.

but being that I am a real example of CC transfer to a 4 year, I can say that the difference between the level of intelligence between a university and a CC can sometimes be minimal. --- You don't know how many times I facepalm'd to some of these questions proposed by my peers during lecture.

They are the ones who should have gone to a CC for 2 years.

Yea, I hear ya. I have been working 40+ hours week and taking 18-20 cr. and maintaining my 3.7GPA with A's in most of the sciences and maths. I think ill cut down on my hours and take on a new leadership position at the new school. Its exciting.

Did CC for a year...it was night and day going to a state school after CC for me, 200+ person classes after being top dog in a 30 person class. It went from me and the prof being on a first name basis in CC....to me running all over campus for a friggin TA because some tenured profs arent all about students. Thats not all classes though at all....and its kinda the name of the game sometimes.

I would recommend overstudying for that first semester at the 4 year school, that way you know how much you can scale it back once you settle in.

It really depends on what university you go to and the competition you will be facing.

Some of my friends who started from cc struggled a little before adapting, but then again, freshmen go through the same thing

I went from a CC to a small, private college. The 4 year uni work was a bit harder, but I think that is mainly because I didn't take any science classes before transferring and started taking ~12 credits (3 courses w/ lab) of science classes per semester after transferring. Some of my friends found the transition more difficult, and some of them eventually dropped out.

As long as you're willing to put the time in, you should be alright...especially if you're keeping up a 3.7 w/ 18-20 credits of science and math.
