What is best to match derm?

Some say keep your clinical skills sharp and stay around patients, others say get those publications and make connections.

What are the pro's and con's of each?

Is there a ranking somewhere about best derm fellowships, or best transitional year programs that help residents match into derm?

I know lots of questions, early in the morning...sorry

I don't understand the question. Perhaps you are using the wrong terms?

Transitional years are typically taken once you've already matched into derm. The 1st year must be done as a year in prelim-surgery, prelim-med, or transition. From there, you move into your derm residency.

A fellowship is something that is typically completed after your residency.

I may be confused, there are programs ....
https://www.pmhs.org/gme/meded/transyear/

that can supposedly help you match into a certain field (i.e. dermatology since I am an IMG and ....no everyone doesnt need to comment again of the fact that I wont match out of med school because im an IMG no matter what I do)

as opposed to a research fellowship that some students in my program are doing in order to get published, and make connections and whatnot
